Not unless the water is choppy. I take Dramamine when I go out on a boat as I have inner ear issues which give me vertigo and sea sickness. This also helps keep a migraine at bay as my body can deal with the motion with out stressing it to the point of triggering one. However, if it is really choppy, like roller coaster choppy, not much helps... I lose my cookies and get a nasty migraine.

We spend quite a lot of time on our boat in the summer, and we've had some pretty rough rides when the lakes get choppy, but
I can't say it's given me a migraine.

I get migraines if a boat is not moving, but I have extreme motion sickness. If the boat is moving forward quickly, I am OK unless very choppy. It is the side to side motion that gets me. I get woozy on elevators and even baby rides at amusement parks, too. Sometimes the dizzy feeling and migraine lasts all day. Wouldnt you know my husband and daughters love boats and scary rides!

I love the feel of being on a boat on the water. It's very calming and soothing to me. If I have a migraine I love to sleep while being on a boat. It's very comforting.

jeselle - I also love sleeping on a boat. I do sometimes wake up with a migraine though but I think it has to do with night time temperatures dropping. I'm OK on the boat during the day.

when I was growing up, back in the 1960s (long before I was diagnosed with migraines), we had a cabin-cruiser, with two 80 hp out-board motors. The exhaust, and gasoline fumes would sometimes make me a bit headachy, so my favorite place, on board, was in the fresher air, on the bow. I was fine on the boat, so long as we maintained forward motion.

There was an annual joint outting with the L.E.R.A. Boat and Scuba-Diving Clubs at Half-Moon Bay, featuring a dinner with fresh-caught fish and abalone. I like to go fishing; but whenever my Dad would turn off the motors so that we could fish (in the kelp-beds), I would promptly get very sea-sick (feed-the-fish), even if I had taken Dramamine beforehand. The sea-sickness would often include a bad headache. I was often so sick that another club member's boat would have to come and take me back to shore.
