Depakote side effects

I was on very high doses of depakote for several years. To the point I could barely type or write because I was trembling so badly.

My recent CT Scans for my gut showed that I have a fatty liver. They did an ultrasound and nothing showed up other than the "fattiness". The liver enzymes are fine.

Looked up fatty liver and guess what? Side effect of Depakote. I wonder, I've been off it for two years. Could it be a residual side effect?

yes indeed, you can detox and live on as healthy a diet as possible to try and get rid of it. have you heard of apple cider vinegar, we have it on everything and drink it with honey, i use manuka honey. its great for flushing out the liver. try and get a book from the library about it, it may be under folk medicine. dont let the scans worry you.

I was on a low dose of depakote for about a year and my liver enzymes were elevated. They weren't real high, but not in the normal range.

Thanks for the suggestions, Dawn. Yes, I'm working on a much healthier lifestyle. I'm walking two miles a day, eating fruits and veggies, and have lost 10 lbs. I also quit smoking 6 months or so ago.

I'm finding that with all this my back is not hurting nearly as much and I've cut my use of pain killers by a 1/3. Woo hoo!
