Availability of generic Oxycontin

Post  AZgirl on Tue Nov 16, 2010 2:23 am

I went to fill my Oxycontin last week, only to be told the generic wasn't available and had to get the brand name. As someone who is currently paying cash for prescriptions I was disappointed in this. The pharmacist said the FDA hasn't released the generic right now. Has anyone else found this recently?

Hmm, I wonder if it has anything to do with a "crackdown" on recreational use (abuse). Of course then it's the people in need that suffer... scratch

I'm sorry AZ. I knew this was going to happen. Pharmacies in my area got robbed for Oxycontin. The pharmacies are fighting back by not carrying it any more. Now because of a few lousy, low down, garbage eating scumbags, the people who need and have a legal prescription for the drug can't get it.

Here's an example again of the lowest common denominator setting policy. Mad

I live in a small town. Even though I've been on oxy for three months and I gave my script to the pharmacy on the 24 th to be filled on the 28 th, when I went in to pick it up on the 28 th they didn't have enough in stock.

Due to what schedule drug it is they can't give you a partial fill, it's all or nothing. Luckily the other pharmacy in town had it in stock.

I just looked at my container, and no, it is not a generic.
