My parents are home! Empty My parents are home!

My parents are home! First, at 10:30 Thursday morning, I got a call from my brother. He had arrived safely at his home in Brazil. I think he was a bit lonely, though, because his wife stopped in South Africa to visit friends there before coming back to Brazil. She'll be gone two weeks, so he was coming home to a near-empty house. His father-in-law was there when he got there, since he was taking care of their dogs, but he left after my brother got home. We talked for two hours!

And then, about 2:30, my parents got home. First came my dad, who was riding in a truck that had all the lugguge in it. He and the driver were unloading the truck, and he said something to the other man that I couldn't hear. But from 100 ft away, in the back of the house, the parrot heard. And she went wild! She started screaming her head off in jubilation that my father was home. So when he came in the house, he walked straight to the cage and let her out, and was she thrilled! The dogs had already registered their excitement by going out to the driveway to say hello to my dad.

And fortunately for me, my uncle and aunt went straight to Fresno, instead of sticking around to spend the first night, as I had expected. I didn't think they'd want to make the four-hour drive after just getting back because I remember how exhausted I always was after a Kenya trip, but they did. So I didn't have to hear their excited story-telling. My mom is pretty sensitive to my feelings about being left out of the "family trip," so she has been careful not to share more than I am comfortable with. But my aunt is very unsensitive to my feelings, as she demonstrated the day before they left, so I was concerned that she would be full of stories of everything I missed out on.

I hadn't slept at all the night before and little that day because I had an appointment with my headache specialist, so I went to bed shortly after they got home and didn't get up until 8:00 last night. I then went back to bed an hour or two later and slept until 6 this morning. I really needed the sleep!
