Electric Tootbrush...
For the first time since my childhood, I got me an electric brush, and right away I think I got a faulty one.
Is the brush supposed to stop working now and then while you brush? and sort of "stutter", if you know what I mean.
Is it normal, or should I exchange it right away? It's Oral-B Dual Clean. And I have two weeks for exchange or return.
I would appreciate your advice.

No it's supposed to stay on until you shut it off. I have a Crest Spinbrush and wouldn't go back but it stays on until I shut it off otherwise it sort of defeats the point.

Kitty,
I have a Phillips Sonic Care. There are preset cleaning cycles that will turn off after an interval, say 2 minutes. You can be using it to brush your teeth, and it will shut off.
And I think yours does......it's normal. Check it out. It has a 2 minute feature.

Yes, that's the exact brush I have
I read the instructions prior to use but I admit I skipped a part here and there, so I guess I have to re-read it.
I do tend to brush my teeth rather long, as I find it quite relaxing. Gotta check the features out.
Thanks guys!!!

Re: Electric Tootbrush...
I was doing my teeth today, and observed the clock at the same time, (procrastinated with instructions, ehhh)
indeed it happens about every two minutes, so it must be this built in timer, thanks Porsche Guy!!
can tell there is a brilliant engineering mind behind this nickname!!

Re: Electric Tootbrush...
My Oral B actually stutters every 30 seconds, as a signal to move from quadrant to quadrant in the mouth. It then gives a long stutter after 2 minutes are up. It's a useful feature, as I can be sure to give each part of my mouth the recommended time. If I use a manual toothbrush, I rarely last 2 minutes!

I can't use one. Very likely to give me a bad head.

30 seconds per quadrant....
The every 30 second stop is to let you know to go to a different quadrant. Upper right-30- sec, upper left-30 sec, lower left-30 sec. lower right-30 sec for a total of 2 minutes . The DDS rec time.
In all the years I worked in the DDS office I saw a lot of power brushes. And was given one of each that came on the market. My favorite is the Oral B plaque remover. I have tried the Sonic but always went over my teeth again with the Oral B, just didn't feel clean.
When Ryan got braces I bought him the Oral B pro. $75 but it has a a monitor on the wall that lets you know if your brushing to hard or the angle is wrong. There are other settings also. It has worked well for him. My teeth are horrible from the Sjogrens, a symptom is rampant decay from no saliva. I don't want him to have problems like me. To think of the money in my mouth!
Everyone is different and will like something else. My hubby's grandma loves the spin brush. Just have to try them out.
I do believe a power brush is better for people with chronic health issues like us. You get better results than with a regular brush. It's easier and more effective. I don't want to stand and brush with any energy I have when I feel crappy. The power brushes do it for you and all you have to do is move it around, even with your eyes closed.
