Robert turned 21

My youngest son Robert is moderately mentally handicapped. He turned 21 last week. Right now my eldest son, John, and Johns two best friends are taking him out for his first "drink". Robert was so excited to hang out with the "guys".

My eldest told me this was a male bonding rite of passage, No Mothers Allowed!

I'm sure they will be gone less than an hour. Robert will not like the taste of alcohol and will refuse to take more than a sip. He does not see any type of cool factor in booze. In fact in school he was taught that alcohol was a drug. So he would tell people that Mommy and Daddy did drugs. Things are very black and white to Robert.

Hubby is heading to the bar right now.

I think it's sweet of John and his friends to take time out of their day to make Robert feel special. John is busy right now painting the house he and his new wife are moving in to.

What a good brother. I am sure he will feel really special, and I hope all goes well.

Robert had one Grape Ice vodka drink with lunch. He finished it but didn't want anymore.

He was so happy he had lunch with the "guys".

Oh yeah ... that first (legal) drink with the guys. Good for your boys! And of course no mothers are allowed - no Dad's either. It's a guy thing, I guess. I am real happy for your sons.

How special! I'm really glad that you have such a devoted brother as John who cared enough to help his younger brother experience the big rite of passage. It sounds like you did a great job of rearing your boys!
