Butterburr and Magnesium
I have a question regarding the above ~ both seem to help "migraine". Migraine has such a wide variety of symptoms ~ do these help migraine as a whole or just certain symptoms of the migraine? Do they help the headache or do they help the neurological symptoms of migraine?
I'm trying to decide what to try first but I need to know if they may help my neurological symptoms as I don't always get the headache but I struggle with the neurological symptoms even on a good day. No use trying them if they only help the headache.
Thanks!

I think as all the things you mention are part of the migraine, the relief should be in all areas.
However, I dont get any aura etc so cant really say.
BUT, I am sure someone can....

Thanks Pen ~
I consider myself lucky that i'm not afflicted with the intense head pain so many of you experience on a regular basis. The neurological issues however can be just as debilitating and even more frightening as I never know what's going to hit or how hard. I'm hoping to hear from someone that has the neurological issues that has taken or is taking one of these so they can tell me if it worked for them.
I need to try something but don't wish to try just to try with everything i'm already on - and i've never been a pill person until this!

Debbie,
For what it's worth: in my case I have not had an aura since I started taking Petadolex 8 weeks ago. I used to have an aura 2-3 times a month. I always get a wicked migraine following the auras, though. Magnesium supplements did nothing at all for my auras.

Thanks Jayme! That's what I needed to hear! I'll have to give it a try then! When I do I'll definitely let everyone know how it works for me!

Good luck with the butterbur Debbie. I have been taking it for almost 3 weeks. (I thought it was longer but my calendar says differently )

Butterbur and magnesium and beta blockers?
Does anyone know if we can take butterbur at the same time as beta blockers? I'd like to try it if it would stop the auras I'm sick of them every day, it's like waking up with the school bully waiting at the bottom of the bed.

Di,
There are no known drug interactions on most sites.
I have found a couple, but nothing about Beta Blockers.
I do know one person who is taking both and no problems.

I am taking a beta blocker (Atenolol), magnesium, and Petadolex with no problems.

Buttebur and magnesium
Thanks Pen and Martin
I asked because we were looking it up in the chemist and because it doesn't qualify to be in the big book under butterbur because that is a herbal medicine name we couldn't find it. Although I forgot Petadolex as a name so didn't try that.

Di, Are you not a member of Migraine action? I thought you were.
The latest newsletter has an article on page 6 about the success of Butterbur.
They say there are no known drug interactions.
Hope that helps.
