Sorry, technical issue.

I'm reading "If you have to cry go outside" by Kelly Cutone, " War" by Sebastian Junger, and" S**t My Dad Says" .

I started "Beautiful Lies"... Empty For mystery fans

Post  VickiG Mon Jun 07, 2010 5:16 am

I just listened to Mistress of the Art of Death by Ariana Franklin. It takes place in 12th century England, and the lead character is a woman sent from Solerno to study the bodies of murdered children to try to help identify their murderer. I don't like graphically violent or sexual books, and this book filled my requirements. There is a brief scene where Adelia uses scientific language to decribe the bodies, but she does so in a way to reduce the emotional bad parts of it. The book kept me on the edge of my seat, and the narrator (since I don't read, but only listen to books) was excellent. I have since ordered the second book in the series. I may note that this has often been compared to the Cadfael books, but I found them boring, while this book was decidedly not. It's well worth reading! I like historical mysteries because the authors can't rely on scientific evidence to solve the cases for them. They have to do all the work for themselves.

I just finished "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. I highly recommend it. It is about African American maids and the families they cared for. It is fiction with a lot of reality woven in. I am now reading " The Girl Who Played With Fire" by Stieg Larsson. It is the second in the trilogy that starts with "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo". I am so happy to be done with my recent string of migraines that kept me from reading much for the last 2 weeks. I was soooo bored!

I just bought "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" two days ago! It's the first in the series.
I dunno when I start reading this one seeing how many I have waiting to be read.
