Migraines in the morning Empty Migraines in the morning

Post  Kate Wed May 26, 2010 8:04 am

I`ve had good size m in the morning for 2 days in a row now. I don`t know if it`s my pillow or the fact that my child wants to enlist in the military and the stress of that is triggering them. If it is the stress of my child enlisting, I`m hoping that I can calm down because I`d like to be able to go on vacation this summer and really enjoy myself.

Unfortunately, I`m going to have a hard time not stressing over this so that`s not a good sign for me and my migraines.

Hi,

I hope you are feeling better today than you were yesterday. Did you make it through work?

This may be a silly question... but have you been to see a doctor? I know sometimes we don't, because ofter there is nothing they can do. If you haven't maybe go see them, see if they can break up this "cluster" you are stuck in with a change of meds or something? Worth a try I think Smile

Let me know how you are getting on if you can.

last year i hit a patch of constant M and ended up in gp office after a 3 week stinker she put me on propranolol it broke the cycle within 48 hours, i still get them but they are weaker and more sporadic , but i have continued to stay on beta blocker for now, hope it passes soon for you, stress is such a big trigger for me, even if i think i have a handle on the situation, my head says different.

Feeling a little better today. Made it through work.

I`ve seen a neuro in the past and a regular Dr. They weren`t to helpful so I`ve kind of given up on Drs.

Migraines in the morning Empty Re: Migraines in the morning

Post  pen Sun May 30, 2010 5:24 pm

My son flew to Florida on May 18. I have woken in pain every morning since. He is due back on Tuesday.

I now know 4 things.....drinking lots of water makes no difference.
Eating before bed makes no difference.
Sleeping with the window open makes no difference.
Oh and getting a full 7/8 hours doesnt either.
Taking or not taking OTC makes no difference either. (guess that's 5 things).

What am I missing? What have I not considered?

I have been either in bed or on the couch for 14 days.
I am quite depressed. left the house twice for a total of 1 hour.

Have no idea why this is happening, nor why I had 8 days with no Triptan and only 4 OTC prior to this occuring.
Blamed the humidity, but that is long gone now.

I am hurting too much to even walk about.
My muscles all ache because of the inactivity and I expect I have gained weight.

If anyone has any suggestions, please bring them on.
I try to stay "up", I try to help others, but right now I cant even help myself.

Sorry if this is a bit of a rant, but I am now in bed and dread waking up tomorrow.

Thanks for reading.

Pen you sound pretty desperate and i feel at a loss at to what to say to help, really sorry to hear you are havin a rough time of it, the only thing i can think of is a long term pain relief plan where you take something every single day under the supervision of gp,dont some guys on here have a patch with pain relief? i would go back to gp again i know you have been many times b4 but it sounds like you have no quality of life left at all now, thinking of you xxxxxxxx

Thank you Theresa, I dont seem to be able to get any help from anyone.
You are right i have no quality of life, I havent had much for 10 years, but now I dont really know why I bother to get out of bed, except being in it is isolating and doesnt help the pain.

I have become so anxious and down. I get all these symptoms I dont understand, and....hangs head in shame and embarrassment....they scare me. I always say I can deal with just abut anything if I know what I am dealing with....
but I dont. I have no idea why I have these weird things going on. I am sure if I could do stuff and get off the couch and out of the house I wouldn't notice them as much. And agonising over medication, cant get a conclusive answer out of the neuro and the two GPs I see. He gives me 12 and told me to take them all and less OTC. She gives me 18, but says don't take them all......the other would see me back on nortriptyline and 6 migards (that would NOT work). I am driving myself insane trying to work out what I am doing wrong....or even right. So this morning I took an extra migard because I just couldnt stand the pain.
It has helped, but for how long? And what about tomorrow?

It is now beyond me. I dont know who to ask or where to go, and because I am in such bad pain most of the time, I cant keep appointments. Now I am used to pain. I have had 3 babies, IBS for years. Kidney stones....BUT this almost constant pain in my head. I cant cope with it. I am out of ideas, and have had a lot of good suggestions on here. Sadly I have had had criticism too for constantly searching. I am searching ,it is true. But it is an answer to ending the pain, or dealing with, and having some life back before i die that I search for, not the the cause of migraine or the meaning of life.

My cousin died last week. He is 2 years older than me. I hit me quite hard. If I live as long as my parents, I have 12 years to go. I am not being morbid, but I have my kids and my grandkids and would love to be a better part of their lives.

I think I assumed everyone was in the same boat, but I now realise that our suffering varies a lot. Thanks goodness for that.
BUT it is so hard to be honest, and make yourself look like a whimp or a fool.

I am not getting anything else out of the GP or the Neuro Theresa. I am on my own, and no idea what to do.
10 years ago I thought I was having a terrible time. Just goes to show, count your blessings. I am not sure I did.
They told me after menopause I would be better.....I clung to that. It didnt get better, it got worse, and now I am older and its harder to find energy and muscles that will respond because I sit here so much.

Anyway enough of this, you will all be avoiding my posts at this rate.........Embarassed

Sorry for going on. 15 days of this, no end in sight.....
I miss my mum. (But I wish she hadnt made me an only child.)

Thanks,
Pen

Hi everyone,

Penny,

I'm so sorry your current doctors are unable to treat your declining pain levels. This is something that I know personally crushes you down as a person and makes your spirit feel broken. To search is a way to comfort yourself, and to do so leaves hope and may you may find yourself to be a healthier person because of this diligence.

What I suggest is as tough as it is (and trust me, I know you...I know it is going to be hard) switch your gp and neurologist. Keep trying new doctors until you find one who you at least feel comforable with if nothing else, someone you can speak openly about your care with. Pay attention to the amount your doctors look at their watch, when they write in their charts (is it while your speaking, or are they polite enough to wait until you are done with your thought?), do they look at you eye to eye and more importantly do they sympathize with your level of pain? Gauge this and obviously the knowledge of medical information and therein you will find your doctor.

Kate,

I think you should see a doctor for your pain. If nothing else they will be able to provide you with a steroid pack that will break your migraine. This isn't a preventative medication that you will have to take all the time. It shouldn't be used often at all, it is only to be used for emergency situations. I have one in my medicine cabinet just in case all my rescue meds and preventative med fail.

You may have to specifically ask for it as I'm sure if you went into a doctors office they will want to continually monitor you, give you tests and put you on preventatives but I am betting that's not where you want to go with this. I see your other option as going to the hospitals emergency room. They will give you something to break it there.

Best wishes and hope these morning ones go away! I had a tough go at it recently do to stress but in the last few days I upped my preventative dose and I am noticing a huge difference! Hope whatever you both decide to do brings some relief

Pain, so much pain. You guys are all much younger than I am and I know what I put up with. It hurts me just to read about what seems to be a hopeless situation. I cannot understand why the medical profession has not found a cure for this.

When I have gone a few days and the pain is very bad and nothing seems to work, I turn to comfort food. It is probably my imagination, but I make a chip dip out of sour cream, minced clams, garlic, and Worchestershire sauce. Then I get some really salty potato chips and a two liter bottle of cold diet coke. It seems to help some. It also ruins my diet, but it tastes great!

Hal, got to agree with you. The worse the poison I put in my body the better I feel.
I think there has been a thread here on alcohol before saying how bad it is, but honest to G. the best relief I get is 2 glasses of white wine at night. No more, no less. These two glasses for some reason give me the best couple of hours of the day.
One glass does nothing, three glasses I feel sick.
Relaxant? Endorphines kicking in?
Don't care anymore.
Only time of day my brain feels half way normal.

Kate,

If your kid wants to enlist, find out if it is because he can't get a job. Then ask him what type of work he would like to do in the military. He doesn't have to be a front line gun toten fighter. I enlisted in the Air Force during the Viet Nam war and stayed here in the USA repairing aircraft instruments. If he has a choice, tell him to pick something that would be in a support field that might keep him in the USA. Then you can pretty much relax and your kid can get an education. He might want to look into air traffic control with the Air Force. Very good paying job in civilian life when he gets out.

I agree with you totally, Hal. Why can't something be done to find some help for this unrelenting pain?

Pen--I empathize so much with you and feel your pain. It hurts to know how much you're suffering. I wish I could wave a magic wand and make it all better.

Sending you a hug and my prayers. Please hang in there. We care. flower

When I woke up this morning, it felt as if I had been on a two week drunk. My blood pressure was 97/48 and pulse was 53. The migraine pain about an 8. My eyesight was really bad due to the low BP. The whole day was a wash and I am just getting the BP up to normal, but the pain in the head is still a pain in the butt. I really felt as if I had been poisoned. I still feel crummy and the pain is still there. Maybe tomorrow....

I don't condone suicide but I don't condemn folks who do it either, especially when they do it to escape unrelenting pain. Those of you who have constant pain are the strongest people I have ever heard of. I don't think I would have the courage to go on if I were in your position.

I am grateful every day that I have found a couple of things that help me a lot with my migraines. I pray every day that those of you who haven't found help will suddenly find the one or several things that are perfect for you.
