Going blind? - Page 2 Empty Re: Going blind?

Post  Dawn Thu Apr 08, 2010 12:49 pm

I saw the retinal specialist last week. Now my peripheral vision is decreasing. My vision problems started 2-3 months ago...Vision is going fast. I'm terrified. The doc says he's 99% sure it's an inherited eye disease, but not sure which one. NONE of them are good news (according to doc). So...now I have to go and see an inherited disease specialist on May 19th to have a whole truck load of more tests. When is this nightmare going to be over?

I did find some interesting information on the WHO (world health organization) site about migraines. There are VII stages of severity in disabling diseases(VII being the most severe and disabling). Migraine ranks at VII which is categorized in the same stage as quadraplegia, psychosis, blindness, and FATAL CANCER!!!!!

I actually faxed that info to my disability company and lawyer since they are saying that having a "headache" is not disabling! Not to meantion hearing people around you say "Only lazy people file for disability, and they're just trying to milk the system dry!" I just wanted to scream when I heard that...when I have migraines 8 days on and 7 off, that doesn't leave much time to try to live a normal life...Now I have to deal with the possibility of going blind on top of these stupid migraines. Feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment. Ever feel like walking to the middle of the woods somewhere and screaming and jumping up and down and crying till you pass out from exhaustion?? I'm there right now Crying or Very sad

I will keep e1 informed...keeping my fingers crossed that this is just one big nightmare and I will wake up and start living my "real" life.

Oh Dawn...I'm so sorry. Sad I can only imagine what you are going through...although if jumping up and down, screaming and crying helps, do it. I can't imagine the level of frustration that this is bringing as well.

Very interesting that migraines are one of the most disabling diseases. I guess we all sort of knew that (being on this site) but to have it confirmed...yeah, great news and I hope you can get disability and soon.

You're in my thoughts and prayers.

Dawn,

My heart goes out to you and your lovely family and prayers also. I would certainly think you should be able to get the SSDI with your vision problems. The migraines alone are enough if you could only get some lawyers and judges that truly understand migraine.

Dawn

Everything crossed for you that you get some good news soon. What a lot to cope with. I'm so sorry. Thinking of you.

I read the WHO's definition of migraine some time ago, ie they consider them comparable to quadriplegia, I just wish more people were aware.

Hal, sorry referring to your post a while ago re your spaghetti sauce (sounded delicious), it gets me soooo frustrated when I've taken time to prepare a lovely meal, then a migraine strikes and I can't eat it Evil or Very Mad
