Doctor Appointment
Well my appointment was so so. About 1 pm I started getting extremely tired so I decided to go home and take a short nap before my 3 pm appt. I got about a 45 minute nap in and got up about 2:30. By 3:00 I had a ripping migraine going.
It was so hard to talk to my doctor as I couldn't keep my thoughts together. We went over my meds and I have to get an MRI asap. So I have to find an MRI machine that doesn't cost $3000.00 !!!!! Can you believe that price? *($&%)*(&%)!
We are adjusting my meds one at a time to see if we can figure out which one is causing the tinnitus. She is also recommending that I see a pain specialist as she doesn't feel like she can cover all my various pain symptoms.
I did get some Fiorocet so I can try to abort some of migraines without resorting to too much Excedrin and Aleve.
Medical denied me. I may have to go the disability route. I can't go on much longer like this. Maybe the MRI will show something that will allow me to get disability without too much trouble. My body is failing me. The medical establishment is failing me. The insurance companies are making it impossible for the uninsured to get reasonable medical care.
ARRRGH!

Re: Doctor Appointment
I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. I am very grateful for my health insurance. It doesn't seem fair that I have two (myself and hubbies) and that their are so many without any.
Wish I had words of wisdom but all I can offer are hugs.

Re: Doctor Appointment
Alli,
Well, I'm glad the doctor is working with you to find the culprit med causing the tinnitus. Hopefully adding a pain doc to your team will help too.
I'm sorry for the insurance issues. How is someone without insurance benefits supposed to be able to afford these expensive procedures, i.e. MRI?
Hang in there and take care,
Becky

Sorry you are going through this. I know my brother-in-law said when he takes pain killers (OTC) a lot, his tinnitus gets much worse and I've heard that things like that can cause tinnitus, so maybe it's a combination of all the pain killers making it bad for you.

Ringing of the ears is caused by many things. Loud noise, guns and explosions, loud machinery, head phones, concerts, aspirin and especially Ascriptin with Malox, pain killers, accidents, aging, congestion of the sinuses, excessive ear wax, deterioration of the ear bones, a tumor, diabetes, thyroid problems, injury to the head or neck, and a variety of other causes including medications such as anti-inflammatories, antibiotics, sedatives, and anti depressants.

Doctor Appointment
Sorry you are dealing with so much right now.
I haven't had an MRI for probably 9 years, I definitely couldn't afford one.
I'm sure insurance doesn't cover all of it.
I used to work for MiracleEar and saw so many people that were still quite young that had tinnitus.
The complete list of ototoxic meds includes NSAIDS, anti-depressants, cardiac meds, antibiotics and pain killers. I remember that Hydrocodone was a major one.
If it is meds, it should resolve when the med is discontinued.
I was reading about your nap causing an M, and that has happened to me for years.
If I sleep at least 2 hours, it seems to be OK, but if I nap less than 2 hours, I will wake up with a bad one.
Take care,
Cindy

So frustrated for you! I hope, that you are able to get things sorted out so that things become tolerable. And perhaps a pot of money will come your way (lotto, leprechaun, great-aunt Milly), so that part wouldn't be such a burden.
