hehe no drinking for me, biiig trigger. I've already taken Stadol tonight for menstrual migraine unfortunately, but here it is not my birthday yet! Maybe tomorrow will be better but I don't have high hopes. Today was the first day of my cycle and I usually get a migraine for the first couple days of it. I do have enough fioricet w. codeine to last me though so if I do have a bad day, it will be a medicated bad day at least

When my kids were younger hubby used to get me a hotel room, ALONE, for my birthday. The hotel was only a couple blocks from my house.

Hubby could come and visit for a 1/2 hour. The rest of the day and evening were spent eating chocolate and any other type of junk I wanted, reading and watching racy movies on HBO. It was heavenly! I was so refreshed after my day off from being a Mommy.

hi LG just changing the subject slighty, you talk about menstraul migraines have you considered the Mirena coil, i have had it fitted a year now and it has really help to tamper down the migraines at that time of the month, as i know they are truely awful, nothing would shift mine, not even the triptans, still get them but they are a 4/5 instead of a 7/8.

Had another thought about the Mirena IUD that Theresae mentioned. It may really help you. Granted my M aren't related to hormones but I have one for other reasons (girl issues that maybe should be brought up in another topic) and even if it wouldn't help the M, I would still recommend them. There are other wonderful benefits...I do get PMSy every great once in a while but for the most part things stay on a pretty even keel and the other benefit is that there are months you may not have to deal with the scourge. I've gone to the doctor and sometimes can't recall the last one - they come so light and leave quickly and with no PMS, like it never happened.

I woke up with a migraine today though, but I'm trying to be positive anyway. I took my pills and hopefully they will work even though it was already in full force by the time I took them. Like I said, I'm thinking positive about it so hopefully they will. The mind does powerful things, right?

Anyway, about the birth control. I've been on loads of types of birth control. None of them really made too much of a difference, I've decided to take a break since topamax at the dose I'm on makes it ineffective and birth control is an additional stroke risk on top of my migraines with aura as well as I'm a smoker. The mirena is something I would love to look at but the cost is VERY expensive, even with my insurance plan. I like the non-hormone IUD a lot as well for all the factors I had mentioned above. Maybe I can look into it once my tax returns come back.
