I guess all of us have this one piece of UGLY clothing that you just simply can't throw away because it's so comfy (and so ancient is no longer available even in second hand stores) you just love it but everyone else loathes it, and with a good reason.
This is mine. guess which one is it. lol it shouldn't be too hard:

drum roll please:

lol come to think of it I look pretty out of it, and I rather am. I had mega M on this day yet all of a sudden decided to document these pants. because I had greasy hair, I put the hat on, the only one I have, and due to the deep cut in the top that made me chilly I wrapped the kerchief around, also totally mismatched.. groan...

well at least I stayed home, wasn't planning to go out anywhere...

lol yeah I know the pants are beyond hope but I am telling you you can't buy as comfy pants as these anymore. you just can't!

As for the clock oh mamma mia! it is as pretty as the source of great indignation to me.
Can you believe it took me multiple travels to various parts of our close by municipalties to find this particular clock,
it costed pretty dollar too! because almost a whole $100 CA, and I didn't get to be happy with it for too long for all my troubles?!

Firstly the clock face which is made of thicker paper came unglued and I glued it back easily enough, unfortunately badly which showed only after the glue dried up. There is very visible uneven line between unglued and glued part.
Again unfortunately I glued it with a space strenght craft glue so that's it - no correction possible.
Then after only a few months or so the batteries died and had to be replaced. Then the clock started to slow down,
and again only after a few months the batteries had to be exchanged. Very soon we realized the clock works properly only a month or two after with brand new batteries, then it starts slowing down every day a good 5 minutes and more.

Then after mere one, one half- two years or so it got crazy all the way - all of a sudden it started speeding up, the pendulum stopped then restarted on its own a few days later, then the clock slowed down again. what the.. ??? I declared we must have a ghost residing in our house.

So, apart from yes, looking pretty on the wall and eating up batteries like candies it just gives me wrong time and a heartburn Evil or Very Mad

But enough about my literally stupid clock lolol, come on guys don't be shy - do show me your worst wardrobe offence Smile

Your most offensive piece of wardrobe is.... Empty WooHoo!!!

Post  cupatea Mon Dec 28, 2009 2:47 am

this is the worst you can do, Risa?!!!!...yet you still manage to look cute, Risa, even in this 'dreadful' outfit!!!!! I'm loving the scarf and hat!!

Those pants look like a pair of adidas work-out pants, am I wrong??? In that stretchy material? They do look Very Very comfy!!

I'm trying to think what could be my worst outfit recently. I feel like I dress like a slob so much lately while migraining..one of my new resolutions is is to look nice every day UNLESS I'm REALLY moaning across the bed or floor in pain!

Still, I'm sure I can find a bad picture! Or 5! I think I'll post a picture first of what I look like Decent (I've never posted a picture of myself) before one that can be extremely offensive! I wouldn't want you to associate my name and my roughest fun pictures of myself for my first impression, after all these years!

Still, you are being a great sport for doing this post. What a great thread! I hope some more people reply.
Its good fun and you must know how much I adore your humour!

Your most offensive piece of wardrobe is.... Empty comfy clothes

Post  MM Mon Dec 28, 2009 7:46 am

Risa, I like the red pants! Mine were purple sweat pants. I finally gave them to the second hand store. The other item I wear every morning is a red Minnie Mouse jacket my sister gave me several birthdays ago. It's very faded now, but warm and comfy like a robe.

MM - speaking of purple, you reminded me of another old favorite that unfortunately didn't last that long due to being made of a weaker material.
Anybody remember Au Cotton shop and harem pants? oh, those were the comfy ones and so complimentary to the woman's figure! I wish they could come back in fashion. there WAS some talk about the 80ties fashion comeback lately on MSN!

Tanya - the pants are similar looking to Adidas but are in fact Brody Jeans brand. don't know if the firm still exist, though.
The pants came out sometime in the early 90ties just as the bell bottoms etc style went back in fashion - that long ago, lol.
they are made of sturdy, slightly stretchy cotton smooth on the outside, fluffy inside. very comfy.
what's interesting, my pants despite being cut in a flare style they are not drafty at all - on the contrary, they are quite warm!

BTW I think your idea of posting the best and worst picture is even better of just the worst, and I will too look for the decent piccie to post to balance out this one!

Mine is an old pink sweatshirt that I had cross stiched cows onto. It's so comfy, but totally worn out. I think it's at least 14 years old if not older. lol. Frank laughs at me every time I put it on.

I have a totally misshapen pink, brown and cream stripey jumper that's all bobbly. But it's the softest cashmere and is so warm and snuggly. I wear it with PJ bottoms when lounging on the sofa if I feel particularly bad. It does absolutely no favours for my figure and makes me look massive - it's too short and wide and the stripes are horizontal. Hubby knows if I am wearing it it's a bad day!

Forgot to say - Risa, harem pants did come back in over here a couple of years ago, and I think they're still hanging on. Spotted some maternity ones online the other day but just can't imagine how they would look with a baby bump! Saw lots of girls in France with them looking fantastic, but have also seen some examples of how not to wear them.

Your most offensive piece of wardrobe is.... Empty fluffy sheep pyjamas

Post  dizzyflower Sat Jan 02, 2010 6:58 am

Yes you did hear correctly. 35 and wearing blue fleece pyjamas with the top with embroidered sheep on them and a pattern of sheep all over the trousers. They have a pyjama friend in my wardobe too. It is the same pyjamas but with penguins on them. They are needless to say incredibly comfortable. If I really want to look embarrasing which is normally when my dressing gown is in the wash, I wear my purple cardigan over them, purchased in 1995 which has seen me through art college and looks it. There are no photos if this hideous sight thankfully!!

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Risa..you are so pretty I agree with everyone else.

Erik gave me a basketball tee shirt that was my favorite..I found it the other day..wore it so frequently that it has holes in it..I miss wearing my "comfy nightie"

If I'm home I live in sweats (They are mostly covered with bleach spots..ruined so many pairs because I've cleaned when my head hurts..my migraine uniform)..this is sad, but true if I wear jeans and a nicer tee shirt my sons know I'm going out. Yikes !

Your most offensive piece of wardrobe is.... Empty offensive to who?

Post  crt Mon Jan 04, 2010 5:14 am

That's the question. It seems like our most beloved, most comfortable clothing items are the ones that look the worst. Perhaps because we just loved them to death? I have a wool sweater that I love so much but it is literally threadbare. So I don't wear it anywhere anymore except at home. I haven't been able to get rid of it yet. I should cut it up and leave it in the yard for bird nest material. I've found that birds like dryer lint if it is from all natural fabrics. Since my worn out sweater is not much more than dryer lint, maybe that's the answer.

Oh, and it's probably apparent, but I don't care at all about fashion. If the garment fits, is comfortable, looks reasonably well on me, that's good enough. I do care about the fabric, however. I like natural fibers: cotton, wool, silk. The only synthetic I really like is rayon. It has a nice drape and feel to it and takes colors well.

My daughter made me get rid of all my truly offensive clothes but I kept my purple flannel shirt. It is warm and cozy on cold days and I don't care that it makes me look like a grunge reject.

To whom offensive?? hmmmm....
Well, last time I wore these red pants 'in public' it was shortly before Xmas and my friend told me she wants to know my size as she's gonna buy me a new jogging suit as a "Santa's gift" because she can not stand another sight of this.

At my hot protest that I wear this because I feel sick and this is the comfiest outfit ever she said "I Evil or Very Mad DON'T CARE" and her further exact words were "these are disgusting and I am sick of them!" and "yes you CAN find so comfortable AND good looking pants TODAY".

which, of course, as we know, you most definitely absolutely positively CAN'T.

Your most offensive piece of wardrobe is.... Empty a compromise?

Post  crt Tue Jan 05, 2010 1:13 pm

I'm being stubborn here, I know. I do often go to great lengths to please others, even to my own detriment. But there are some hot topics I'll stand my ground about. You know, we all pick our battles. We're talking here about your clothes, your body, and what makes you feel comfortable. I don't think you should "have" to get rid of favorite clothes items because they bother someone else, albeit someone else you care a lot about. So, how about if you promise not to wear the offending garment in the presence of your loved ones who object? Anyone else who is offended, like strangers in the supermarket line, can take a flying leap. It seems like a reasonable compromise to me. You get to keep your old friend and your loved ones don't have to suffer the assaults to their eyes.
