dental appointment & M
Do you still keep your dental appointment if you have a M? It seems every time I have dental app't I wake up with a M. I've suffered through them so far but my next app't is for a more invasive dental procedure that I'm not sure I can tolerate alone much less if also have a M. Would like your opinions. Thanks.

I imagine it depends on severity, other symptoms, if treatments were or weren't working, etc. I hold down a full time job (somehow) and most days I feel pretty miserable and would rather stay home. I haven't ever had to cancel an appointment, and I'm more likely to call in sick for a chronic gastro issue. I usually pre-medicate for stuff like a dentist appointment, as my headache always gets worse.
I do get some pretty bad migraines, but nearly always late afternoon or evening, I hardly ever vomit (although I get some horrendous nausea sometimes that is worse than the pain), and thankfully they usually eventually respond well to Triptans. I mostly deal with a constant headache, NDPH.
If I felt I couldn't be a good patient, I wouldn't hesitate to call and say I couldn't make it. If you've been a patient for awhile and its the first time you've done it, they may not even charge a no show fee. Some places are very strict though (and I get it, as they are losing money if they can't fill the spot). The more notice the better, although I imagine it would feel silly to cancel way ahead of time they end up feeling ok. Best wishes.

Thanks very much for reply. It's impossible to make plans with migraines or an health issue.

I used to get migraines from dental appointments and I figured out it was from keeping my mouth open so long.
I told the hygenist and dentist and they were very understanding. We did frequent breaks so I could close my mouth and that did the trick! Not so much stress on my jaw muscles and neck.

Thank you! I think my migraine is triggered by anxiety. I guess it's dental phobia. My BP goes to stroke level & no amount of anti anxiety drugs can calm me down.
