Somatic Experiencing - a miracle for me!

I'm 53 and have the same story as most of you here.  Not only frequent, debilitating migraines that lasted days and even weeks, but a daily headache for 14 years (due to a broken neck).  On top of that I got Leaky Gut Syndrome (probably from taking so many meds for my head) AND Lyme disease.  I've spent years going downhill, was often bedridden, and had given up all hope - until 2 months ago when I began doing a type of therapy called Somatic Experiencing.  This therapy is specifically for people who've experienced any kind of trauma (physical and/or emotional).  I am not exaggerating when I say that it's been a miracle - it has literally changed my life.  Gone are the migraines and the constant headache.  Lyme disease is also a known cause of headaches & migraines.  Once I started on the antibiotics for Lyme disease my headaches and migraines lessened as well.  Lyme disease is an epidemic here in the US but it is not publicized.  I encourage all who are suffering with migraines to get tested for Lyme disease (Western Blot is the name of the test).  If you have migraines and have also experienced trauma of any kind I highly advise you to investigate Somatic Experiencing.  May you all find healing and be free from pain.

All this sounds quite interesting, but forgive me if I ask you to be much more specific about how this method has helped you, and more information about what is involved, because we all heard so many stories about miracle solutions, only to end up disenchanted and often out of pocket as well.
You are a new name here, and although everybody who is genuine sufferer is most welcome here, we need to be especially careful with taking such claims seriously. WE had too many disappointments before.

If this method is genuine, and medically recognised as being helpful for treatment of migraine, we would definitely want to know much more about it with references to any scientific papers connected.

I am glad that you have relief from your symptoms, it is good that you had the right diagnosis and treatment for Lyme and that antibiotics helped. This is always good too hear.

sayarma obviously had PTSD from the accident which caused her broken neck. and this treatment sounds as if it could help a lot, thus lessening the pain from concomitant conditions.

most of us here haven't had such obvious traumas. for those who have had traumas, perhaps it's something to thoroughly research. dianne

I have Lymes Disease and a history of migraines (40 years). I'm new to this forum but I sure can relate!!! As I've gotten older the pain has gotten worse and I am less able to cope. It totally becomes the center of your life and affects everyone, although family and friends don't really understand the full ramifications of this disease. We know!!! I have done it all!!!! The Cefaly is a new one however!!! My Neurologists is a crackpot as all of the ones I have had over the years are. He is definitely not into pain management . I was taking 3 different triptans but he will not refill them!!! Says I should only take them 2 days a week. He wants me to use muscle relaxer for pain!! He prescribes Cambia to his patients. I don't take it!!! It has aspertame and is an NSAID . I have hypertension and an ulcer, probably from years of medications!! I have learned a lot from this forum, I'm going to get the diet book from Dr. Signalet. I have had so many of the experiences many of you have had. So tired of doctors!! They don't listen and respect you if you are a migraine sufferer. Thank you and I will be on here again.
