Nitrous oxide for migraine
Hi All,
I had to have some dental work done . I had a horrible migraine and so my dentist used some nitrous during the procedure. The nitrous helped the headache tremendously. The relief lasted until yesterday.
My pain level went from about an 8.5 on the pain scale to a 7 on the pain scale. It was almost as effective as IV Depakan- with depakan the relief seems to last anywhere from 1-2 weeks. Neither treatment completely takes away the pain, but I will take any relief I can get.
I mentioned it to my father, who is a retired physician, and he said it was interesting. He also suggested that it might be possible to get it for home use. Since we know it helps the migraine, I am certainly going to look into it as a possible treatment. I will certainly ask my neuro about this as well.
Has anyone else here used nitrous or had a similar experience?
I'd love to hear any thoughts or ideas about this.

Well I haven't had nitrous when I had a migraine, so I really can't say. But I did have it when I had a root canal done, and I am pretty sure it saved me from getting one. Totally worth it.
