I Have the Best Neuro in the World!
Yesterday, I had a level 10 migraine for the second time this week. My neuro had faxed an order to my NP to only give me 25mg of Demerol. I called the neuro's nurse in desperation because that dose wasn't doing anything. Unbeknownst to me, until I got to my NP's appt. yesterday evening, my neuro personally spoke with the NP and said I could have up to 150 mg of Demerol per month without risking rebound headaches. I now have the choice of 25 mg or 50 mg, depending on the severity of my headache. He also doubled my Decadron dose, and told the NP we could go even higher if it seemed to work well.
Last evening, I took the 50 mg of Demerol and 8 mg of Decadron, along with Phenergan and Toradol. Had the best nights sleep I've had in a long, long time and only have a mild h/a this morning.
Thank Goodness for neuro's who really care about their migraine patients. Will go back in late October for my 3rd round of Botox.
