Genetic Testing
I saw this web site, and I thought if genetic testing might help some of us to determine if a medicine can help us or hurt us (side effects):
https://www.23andme.com/health/benefits/#drugs
Anybody on the forum has the science back ground to determine if genetic testing would help?
Update: I answered my own question, note the many negative review:

Re: Genetic Testing
Wow Martin, I'm a bit surprised the reviews are so bad! My sister-in-law bought this and raved about it; she has been trying to convince her friends and relatives to get it. My brother now has it as well, so it was interesting to hear about our ancestry, and he said "according to my genes, I should be lactose intolerant". That being said, if either of us IS lactose intolerant, it's not apparent. Neither of us drinks milk though...
Having no experience with the product, I can't make any judgements about it, but I would agree that the results don't seem very specific. I will ask tomorrow if the testing provides insight into drug interactions or sensitivities as it claims.
But then again, genes aren't everything. I always love reading about the environment/genetics debate, and I find myself leaning more towards the environment component. I think I remember reading somewhere that environment even affects which genes are expressed, but don't quote me on that.
Anyway, it would be nice to know more, and being able to tie genetics into migraine treatment would be huge. If you find this stuff interesting, I just heard about the Human Brian Project https://www.humanbrainproject.eu/ It is an international collaboration to map out the brain and model it with computers. I'm excited to see what advances in medicine/technology this will bring.
