Migraine with aura? Stroke? Dementia?
Has anyone out there been tested to see if you have CADASIL? Most doctors have no idea what it is. Many neurologists aren't even familiar with it. Those who are, think it is rare, but they don't bother testing anyone who has had a history of migraines, or anyone who has had a stroke, or anyone who has early onset dementia. They just wave it off to MS or ALS or something else without testing for CADASIL. My husband, after suffering from migraines with aura, then having a stroke at age 33, was told by three different neurologists that he probably has MS. It wasn't until his major stroke at age 41 that a doctor said he thought it was CADASIL. Sure enough, he tested positive. Now, we just need a cure. If you've had migraines, ask your doctor to test you for CADASIL. Please. We need the awareness. We need a cure.

LeeAnn, Thank you for your warning, but I wonder if you could also explain to us what CADASIL is, and does it have any other symptoms (apart from migraine ).
What specific test do we need to test for this condition.
