Sigh.. depressed mood today :(
I am in the beginning of another "hell week" of breakthroughs I think. My head hurts to sum it up as you all know.
I know that a lot of you have been dealing with all of this longer, and on a much larger scale than I, so I really do feel petty for whining but I am currently at a crossroads where I am sitting here just wondering "what now?" Sometimes the venting makes it that much more tolerable.
My abortives aren't working, and my M came back today after I got a Toradol injection yesterday. I can't function like this. Round' and round' we go, where it stops, no one knows.
I called my Neuro and his NP told me to take another Imitrex and continue taking my Topamax (And I have been.)
This is so depressing, and I am just in a sad state of mind right now And not just because of the Migraines, my body in general seems to fight me on everything, SO many health problems, something is always wrong. I am in such a funk, and deserve to feel at least functional half the time!

I am sorry you are having such a bad time BS. I know things can get too much when we are not getting enough support or relief from our medication. We have all been there.
But things do change, and we get thorugh those times and somehow we find new ways of coping.
However, if you also have some other health issues you must try to go to your GP and ask to be put you in touch with someone who could give you a proper diagnosis and tests, so you know what you are dealing with and perhaps to begin to get a proper treatment.
There might be a connection between these health issues and what is making your migraines worse.
I read about your little boy and he sounds as if he is such a darling, loving children make lots of difference. Mine are also grown up, but they did understand and help me to cope with pain and they are more kind and compassionate people, becasue of that.

Sorry you aren't getting relief from you meds Baby Seal.
I am in the same boat you are.
Since the beginning of the year, I have seen the doctor four times and had four injections.
But the pain keeps coming back.
When I was there this past Monday, he told my pupils weren't equal.
The one that was largest was on the side I always have pain so he wasn't too worried about it.
Haven't had am MRI for a couple of years so he said I should probably have one next month.
I need to check with my insurance because I don't know if they will pay anything or if it will just go toward my deductible.
Hope you feel better soon.
Cindy
PS..Could your doctor maybe try a different med or injection?

Re: Sigh.. depressed mood today :(
Thank you for the kind words Oh so uplifting!
I am hoping to get a better treatment plan soon. Usually my migraines have been manageable and they will be fairly low grade from the preventatives, so 800-1000mg of NSAIDs it will take care of it.
However I just cannot find the trigger for these long lasting severe ones I am getting, or see a pattern with them. When a "BIG ONE" hits, it turns into this huge fiasco of them coming right back the next day, so my mission now is seeing if I can see if I can find a cause, if any.
I have my next Neuro appt in a couple of weeks so I am hoping it is smooth sailing until then without losing my sanity somewhere I need a better abortive drug that works for me... but hey.. dont we all ?

sorry for you, soryy for all of us...
BabySeal,
I am so sorry for you! I am so sorry for me... and for all of us dealing with this friggin' migraines!! It is really unfair! I get really depressed too, sometimes. I feel, in a word, cheated. I did all the "right" things in my life. I got good grades in HS, went a a good university and became a teacher, like I dreamed, then... WHAMO! I get struck with chronic daily migraines (I'd had migraines since I was 14 but never like this!) and I cannot function, I have to stop teaching, I can't buy a house, I can't take my kids on vacations, I miss my kid's softball games, the list goes on and on, we all suffer because of this and there is nothing I can do about it. I follow the doctor's orders and, still...nothing. It can be VERY frustrating and very depressing... Being on here helps, at least I know I'm not the only one. So, don't feel guilty about feeling depressed, don't feel like you shouldn't because you think some of us have been dealing with this longer than you. So what? I'll be thinking about you and hoping that you get some relief....
Michelle

Re: Sigh.. depressed mood today :(
I am doing better migraine wise thankfully!
We had a lot of snow these past few days and so we stayed home and ignored the chores and tried to have as much fun as we could It is times like those I think that make it all worth it, quality time and seeing how amazing of a little boy I have had the pleasure of raising It melts my heart. I am lucky I didn't drown in sloppy baby kisses these past two days haha.
SO. This migraine over... on to handle life's problems before the next one hits!
Thanks again everyone !!

This is probably too late, but I am so sorry for how you feel. I've been there and it feels so totally hopeless. The pain is unbearable and depression is always right along with it. I am glad that you have a son to lighten your load and make you smile! I do know that that is a double edge sword though, b/c I feel so guilty surrounding my children and that I can't be the Mother that God intended them to have. But then I have to pick myself off the ground and enjoy the days that I do have and realize that maybe one day I will get better just as quick as I got sick...and that can happen to you too! I am happy to hear that you are doing better! Enjoy the day or days that you have and share that beautiful smile with those that you love!
