exercise - thinking about a tricycle.
I want to get back into cycling a bit - only locally anything else would be too much, and thought a tricycle might be easier balance wise, but I've never ridden one.
Have any of you ever ridden a tricycle and was it easier than a bicycle?
Or is this going to be another bit of clutter in the garage?
best wishes

Re: exercise - thinking about a tricycle.
My friend with Cerebal Palsy had a trike. Hers at least was quite heavy, so definitely more suited to a flat ride around the block. If you have a good place to ride it and feel that is a better option for you than a stationary exercise bike, than great. I'd rather ride the bike at the gym though! You don't have to deal with finding a flat place, the weather, and a trike kinda looks silly to me. The average person who purchases any sort of exercise equipment ends up not using it as often as they'd thought. If it were me, I'd pay the extra for a month to month gym membership and see how often I really used it over a few months before considering buying either a bike or stationary bike. Best wishes.

exercise
7 miles car ride to gym down a country wibbly wobbly lane.
You are right about the weight. I am looking at aluminium ones but they don't import swimm tricycles so most suitable not available. Will probably end up converting my bicycle which will then at least go with me to the other side of village to alotments and back.
I couldn't stand a gym.

Re: exercise - thinking about a tricycle.
I would love a tricicle, but I live on top of a hill and no matter where I go it means a steep, long climb. What I was considering is a collapsible commuter bike, but when I looked at them I found theyare quite bulky and heavy for me to handle, specially when stored in the boot of a car.
I agree about the gym; hate them, everything about it depresses me, the noise, the smells, the look of people looking like some kind of obsessive robots...I loose the will to live.
I find that gardening is the best kind of exercise at the moment, but in winter things get rather slow in the exercises terms.
I just do strech exercise more or less every day, because I have lots of muscular pain and this helps a lot.
Dancing is definitely the best form of exercise for me, but there is nowhere near me to do that at the moment.
I think that unless we find a form of exercise that we actually can enjoy, we are never going to keep it up, no matter how much money we spend.

exercise - thinking about getting a tricycle
gyms depress me too. I used to enjoy my bicycle till my balance went a bit. There is a sense of freedom. Trouble is there seems to be waiting lists for the kit so I have a while to work out if I want one. It's funny you mention dancing, I used to ballroom dance many moons ago. Don't think I'd remeber how nowdays.

Aside, from my twice (30 minutes each session) daily stretches, to keep the muscles flexible, I do (at home) tai chi about three or four times a week.
