Olfactory hullicinations....
Do you have olfactory hullicinations. I have had them for half my life. Just wondering if they are connected to migraines. How common are they.

all the nerves are hyper sensitive when in a mig or leading to it and the olfactory nerve is no exception, i usually smell smoke and sit up in bed in a panic convinced the house is on fire!! - my son wanted me to get all festive on the forum!!

Yes, I get them right before I get a doozy of headache.
I imagine I smell natural gas. I have very body and their brother looking for the gas leak. There is none. One day I'm going to go kablooey because there really was a gas leak and I ignored it.

ditto on natural gas scent
How weird that the two of us smell the same odor before a migraine.

interesting
I used to smell gasoline. I would have people looking for the source of it. I thought I must have an extra sensitive sense of smell. Who knew it was not really there!

I get them bad before "big ones" Mine are almost always an amonia/bleach or urine type smell... Very strong tho and no one else every smells it. Once I realize that only I smell it, I get bummed out cuz I know what that means. It is listed as a common symptom of the aura phase of migraine in some of the books I've read on them.
your not crazy.. Just a migraneur! (that could be a bumper sticker or something, huh?)
