August was a good month Triptan wise for me. Total 9. Yes that is a lot, but good for me.
And I dont take anything else except some OTC.

September was lousy...12.
I am trying to reason that with the trauma of trying to go North...failed.
Then a gastric/fluey bug that hit Sept 18. And then got into my sinuses....
This is understandable. I think....

BUT now, not quite half way through October.....already had 6.
Really need one today, but trying to resist. It seems it is taking 3 rather than my usual 2 to kill them.

I can add in my cousin's sudden death on 23rd Sept, and worrying about the Christening last sunday.
And putting my back out last Tuesday and now worrying if I will make the funeral on Friday...its lunch time...early for me.

Somebody tell me please. Is it all explainable. Is it acceptable that this month could run into 13 triptans....
Will it go back to "normal"?
Extenuating circumstances....

I am so scared I am just getting worse.....
Sorry it is just an anxiety rant, but if someone could reassure me.... Smile

Or not.... affraid

Pen,

For me there was something that hit right around the first day of fall (not to mention a ton of extra stress). I went and looked at my notes - 14 straight days of M. And nothing was really helping them. Drove me crazy. I got a head cold and then things settled down. Why I have no idea but I'm not going to complain.

I think you take what you need to and don't worry about it. If you have to take more than you normally do one month - not the end of the world. Smile I guess I wouldn't worry about it being worse unless it continues for another 2 months. You've had a lot going on and there's something to be said for the stress component. When things settle back down, then re-evaluate the situation.

Thanks Becky. Just ended up at the drs for the shooting pains and my back.
I felt like an idiot, I am so sick of going, and when I mentioned being a bit "Triptaned",
he looked embarrassed. Not sure if it was fort me of him....

I dont know what is going on either, but I wish to God it would calm down.
Glad your cold eventually was a help rather than hindrance.

Smile

Do what you need to do....
If you have enough triptans to make it thru the month, then take them. This is war! Sometimes you have to resort to tactics you normally wouldn't do.

I have 12 left. I would hate to take them all, but I MUST get to this funeral. I will be heartbroken to miss it.
So i guess I will down the drugs. I just get sick of being told about Triptans rebounding.....
I dont think they do for me, but hard to know.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Pen, I think the others are right and you just need to take what you have to and try not to worry about taking more at the moment.

I don't think you can explain why you sometimes have to take more. That's what's so frustrating, it's so unpredictable. I hope you get there on Friday.

Did you say normal, Pen? None of this is normal. Do what you must to make it.

Any change in my migraines put me into a panic attack. August was horrible for me, September a little better and now in October with the new meds I thought I might have hit on something but now have had 2 this week. Whenever I get on a new med it works for about 2 weeks and then
I go back to normal. I'll stick it out for 3 months but I'm not feeling too hopeful anymore. \

I hate this disease. I can only imagine what it is like when you don't have a very successful abort rate. I don't think I would be able to take it.\

How many triptans are you allowed Pen? Is it that you don't have enough or you don't want to take more if possible?

I just gave in and took number 7. Not even half way through the month....
That leaves me 5 for the rest of the month.
So I should have had enough....
And no I dont want to take more if possible.

All I hear is bloody rebound, rebound.....and then oh yeah.....rebound affraid

Here is my take on rebounds. So what if it is a rebound? You are screwed anyway. If you don't take it, you are in pain, if you do take it, you have rebound. Why not just take one every day and be pain free? Lief is very short.

I sooo agree with this. Rebound is just another excuse for doctors not to hand out the meds!

Oh Pen...you need more than 12 a month! That seems insane to me!

Pen,

Take the pills you need to take today. Don't worry about tomorrow. Sometimes we have to deal with this disease one day at a time, or even one hour at a time.

I used to do the same thing. "Should I take a triptan or not?" Is it really bad enough to warrant a pill? What if I run out before I can get some more?" I drove myself nuts with the worrying, created a huge amount of anxiety for myself, and probably instigated more migraines than I would have had otherwise.

Now, if I need one, I take it and don't worry about it. I take it early before the monster gets a chance to build up a full head of steam.

Excuse brevity yet again. I took it, it helped, but the beast has changed sides and gotten into my neck.
I am fretting on getting to the funeral tomorrow. I dont know how I am going to do it, and will be so upset if I cant.

For now, thank you my friends.

Just a little panic rant Empty I made the funeral.

Post  pen Mon Oct 18, 2010 6:13 am

I got there. I almost didnt. I woke at 7am to take Migard, but my head wasnt too bad and I fell back to sleep.
I woke again at 8.30 and couldnt wait to see, so I took it then.
I got the worse side effects in ages. I couldnt stand, or walk, was so spacey and weired out.
I have NO idea why.

It helped the pain in about 2 hours....quick for me, but the side effects were awful and lasted over 3 hours.
So we ended up leaving late. No time to go to the house, straight to the cemetary.

Thankfully we got there just as the hearse was pulling in.
I still felt pretty weird.

I am not looking forward to the next Triptan. Why did that happen???

Anyway, I have taken 9 triptans and it is now half way through the month.
I am due another migraine tomorrow and am praying it doesnt come.

I couldnt get to the neuro apt. this morning.
Stomach upset again, and also bad accident on motorway, cant get through the traffic.
Called them though.

I just wanted to let you all know what happened, as you have been kind enough to comment.

Thanks all.
