Headache Clinic Empty Headache Clinic

I had an appointment with my headache specialist to-day. I had to cancel at the last minute due to a " dibilitating migraine. " When I told this to the secretary she said she would tell the doctor that I couldn't get there because my "head hurt." What?? How did "dibilitating migraine" translate in to "head hurt." If a headache clinic doesn't 'get it' who will? I certainly am learning a lot through all my experiences with this disease.

It sounds like someone working there needs to be schooled on the difference between a common headache and a migraine...

Yes. I thought it was very strange. Perhaps she was new. Or very young. (don't mean to be biased)

Yes. I hate to admit it but I allowed her to make me (my situation) feel belittled. It doesn't take much at these times.

The next time you see your doctor there, I hope you let him or her know about this. Sometimes, doctors know if their staff has an attitude when working with patients, but too often, they don't know if the patients don't tell them.

That's a tough call. Sometimes when a group of people working together is a tight group they stick together on these things. And, my doctor himself can have an attitude. I've only been there 3 times so I don't really have a 'feel' for the situation yet. He's giving me nerve blocks so I don't want to get on his wrong side. He might make me pay!! You know a sharp jab to the head.
