Thanks Pen, my daughter is supposed to be trying this. Our insurance wont pay, so we are trying to figure out how to afford it. The audio was encouraging.

Another link. Do listen. Not just about Botox.
DO give this a listen.....all of you....
I am told this link is a better one.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p009lwlz
Starts with the announcer getting ticked off for calling them "migraine headaches"...sweet....
Botox if it works can give 50% reduction.
Routine in our lives, necessary. Modern living an enemy.
Goadsby mentions Hypothalamus........Ah ha!!
He says exciting time for Migraines and headaches, more help on the way.
15 months before new drugs arrive. He is making it sound positive.

re: Botox
Funny this should be posted now. I was at a headache specialist last week. His first choice for my headaches was Botox. Being as it was $700.00 every 3 months (not covered) I am trying his second choice. (nerve blocks) I am trying to figure out a way to pay for Botox if blocks don't help. BTW The link didn't work so I have not been able to listen. Interesting, the timing of this....PS If anyone in Canada knows how to get Botox covered please let me know. Also, who here has tried it??

tried botox
Botox worked well for me for the first year and got me out of 2 migraine a week cycle. Second year not so well and the third year I felt it wasn't worth the expense. Breaking out of that pain cycle made it well worth it.

Sorry to say that Botox had no effect on either my headaches or neck pain. I have read it is more likely to be effective for people whose headaches are more in the forehead area.

I actually thought the rest of the audio was more interesting, as it mentioned migraines as distinct from headaches, and possible new treatments.
