Unfortunately wearing headphones much of the time will only make your noise sensitivity worse. I highly recommend reading up on hyperacusis. The only solution is to gradually readjust your ears by getting them used to broad spectrum noise again. Check out www.hyperacusis.net to find out more about this and find a trained audiologist in your area.
