Migraine Chat room
Is there a migraine chat room here, or is it just discussion boards. The message boards have helped me a lot, but it would be nice to chat with others. I have a terrible migraine right now. I just took a fioricet, praying it works. It's 10:30pm and I need to get some sleep, but hurt so bad can't sleep. Waiting to hear from my doctor, he is doing some research to find me a headache specialist in my area (Tennessee). I had brain surgery several years ago. I think some of my pain may be related, but neurologist don't really know.
I took a 4 mile walk tonight in the heat and with a migraine. I pray for strength. I don't want to let these migraines take over my life, but I must say it's sooo hard to deal with this daily.

Sorry you are struggling. I don't think there is a chat feature here. I could be wrong, though. Anyone else know?

migraines
Thanks, migraines seem to be getting worse in intensity. It could just be the heat, it's so hot here in Tennessee. I would just love to chat with others who can relate to my pain. I've taken two fioricets today, and that is my limit. I don't know how safe it is to take these med on a regular basis. there is no codine in this Rx for fioricet, but maybe the codine would help my head. anyone take tramadol for your migraines? I'm calling my doctor tomorrow I've got to find something to relieve the pain. my insurance denied the botox injections but my doctor is sending another request in to treat my neck pain as well as migraines. I've had brain surgery, this isn't for cosmetic purposes. If the people that approve these procedures would have just one migraine they'd understand and not question the therapy. Praying you all are staying migraine Free!

Re: Migraine Chat room
I've taken both tramadol and fioricet (not wit codeine). Neither work well for my migraines, but I get chronic daily headaches and they both work well for those. I was prescribed the fioricet for the migraines by Urgent Care once, and found it doesn't work great for the m's but for the bad headaches it does. Sometimes there doesn't seem to be much difference, but there is.
Do triptans not work for you?
I've never tried fioricet with codeine. I'd like to, just haven't been able to see the nuero to ask him to prescribe it.

Migraines
I took fiorciet yesterday and it did nothing for my migraine, but it seems to be based on how bad my migraines are. I don't have fiorcet with codine, maybe if I did it might work a little better. May ask my doctor about it when call him today. The only thing is I don't want to become addicted to it, I've read on here where some people were taking it so often and when they tried to stop they went through withdrawals. I don't take anything strong unless the pain become unbearable. The only strong thing I have is loratab, and it's a low dose. Best of luck to you all!

Re: Migraine Chat room
Cindy, a chat room is available on this type of forum.
I guess you could contact Ronda and see if she will activiate it.
It's her call.

Re: Migraine Chat room
Cindy,
If you're looking for a chat room that's available all the time, I don't know of any.
We have monthly chat sessions on MyMigraineConnection. We've been doing two hours in the afternoon and another two hours in the evening, one day a month. For the summer, because of decreased participation, we're doing just an afternoon session once a month. If you're interested, you can check our chat index page at http://www.healthcentral.com/migraine/connect/chats.html.

Re: Migraine Chat room
I know that we used to have a chat room in the old site, but it was hardly ever used. We just didn't bump into each other or go. I do remember, years ago (maybe 10?) that we set up specific times to go to chat, but even that got spotty. It got hard to commit to being well enough to be on the computer then, but not so well that we were trying to get things done for when we weren't well.

Migraine Chat
I understand. I'm just new here and I wasn't sure if there might be one or not. Thanks for letting me know. Hope you all are doing well. I'm still having terrible migraines. I am seeing a neurologist from the Universtiy of Va Medical Center. They come down to a clinic that is 35 minutes from me and I have the opportunity to go see them. They are the same group of neurologist that I had before my brain surgery. Wish me luck! Hoping they can give me some reasons why I might be having daily migraines. I actually had a pretty good day today, fingers crossed I'll have a good day tomorrow too xxx.
Blessings ~ Cindy

Dear Cindy, I understand your pain and suffering so much, and I pray you will find relief soon. I am also in search of pain relief in that for the last 8 months, I have chronic migraines. I'm about to go out of my mind. The neurologists want to do Botox, but I am leary, as I don't know enough about it. I can relate to trying to do things with a migraine...your strength is admirable! I'm sorry about your brain surgery in the past. I have tried everything for relief, and the only thing that has worked is a shot from the neurologist's office where I need a driver. What have you tried and how often do you suffer? If there is anything that I can do, please don't hesitate.
This is my first try to get into the chat room to chat, so I hope that you receive my message. Understandingly, Doreen

I had daily M in 07,08 and was using fiorecet with some relief. Started using 3 a day and getting sharp pain between the eyes. Only used it about 60 days and it was hard to quit.
I currently have only one M a week, taking .1mg clonidine four times a day. I hope you find something for relief soon.

Botox/Doreen...
Hi...this is Doreen Swaim, I'm hoping that this is the way to get a chat out there? I'm still new and trying to relate with you other migraine sufferers. We have it tough! Any thoughts on Botox or anyone who has had the Botox treatment, I would greatly appreciate. That is probably going to be my next type of treatment for the pain and everything that goes with that. I hope that everyone suffering today has some relief. Understandingly, Doreen

botox
Doreen,
I have tried Botox and it works. It lasts approx 6 months. I was on a daily preventative and was able to stop using it after taking Botox. My migraines are now back though, and Amerge is not helping. Plan to see neurologist ASAP. Either need to get reinjected or try another daily preventative. (Topamax was working but made me extremely stupid and affected my job.) Hope this helps.

Botox
Dear Dawn...Thank you for a reply on the injection treatment. So, let me try to understand you correctly, as sometimes my brain gets foggy for details. Are you saying that you received 6 months of daily relief on a daily basis? If that is what you are saying, I'm exstatic, as trying to deal with the chronic migraines one day at a time, is making me feel not only lonely in my situation, but crazy trying to deal with it. I have alot of support, but they don't know what to do to help me, so I still feel lonely. I have a cupcake business that I am trying to keep up with, but by the Grace of God, it is slow and that is good. I tend to be impulsive, and take on more than I should, which gives me worse migraines, but I want so badly to be able to be productive and do the thing that I love. I went to a very good culinary school, and right now, I am feeling that I am stuck in this position until the insurance comes through for the Botox treatment. I feel desperate, and your contact has helped me to feel less alone...thank you, Dawn.
