If the weather really is a factor in migraine....what hope do we have?
I have had an awful month. It's a short month and my Triptan usage is going to be worse than January...3 days shorter.
I dont understand how all this changeable weather can give me migraines, but if these last 5 months are anything to go by, I am ready to believe it...
BUT, we are told to avoid our triggers.....anyone have any suggestions with that one....seriously?
Is there anything we can do...

I cant believe I have woken with another bad head. It isnt a whole migriane yet,all up the back of my head, but after struggling through yesterday refusing another Triptan not sure I will do it today. I am NOT getting my breaks, my "wonderful" whole 3/4 days off.
It is just going on in between with like a low grade migraine...so then I am taking more OTC.
If I dont have MOH, at this rate I soon willl.

Sorry, not so much a rant, just cathartic to write it down, but please comment.
Are you having the same experience.
We spoke about location and the weather on the old forum....
Back in I think November...

Anyone who felt it then feel it is any better??

Off for an ice pack...as if it wasnt cold enough... (upset belly too..)cheers

We're in the same boat.
Friday: snow/rain and cold
Saturday: wind, sun, sensitive temperature raise
Sunday morning: wind, sun, low temp
Sunday afternoon: clouds, cold
Monday: rain, humid, cold

My head has behaved till Sunday afternoon, then it gave up. I've bee coping with a bugging attack for 24 hours now. Not too strong, but annoying...

No idea on how to fight weather trigger. I think we just have to take them and hold on No

Thanks Ivy, what do you think.....are we suffering because of the unsettled weather, or are we kidding ourselves (or rather being kidded)? Sorry you have it too.

Same here. More snow than we've experienced since the 1970's (I didn't live here then) according to experts and frequent fluctuation in temps. We have had several days with below zero temperatures. And the photosensitivy involved in the sun shining off the brilliant white snow has been especially bad for me this year.

Boy, I can't wait until spring!

No snow here in South Louisiana right now (or ever, really), but the weather is a rollercoaster ride--always a migraine trigger.

So do you all really feel , or even know that the changeable weather is the cause of many migraines?
Is it what has made this autumn winter so hard???

I never need to look out the window to tell you it's snowing unfortunately. My head tells me it is all the time Crying or Very sad

It's a new thing for me, this winter was full of snow and every storm triggered a migraine for me. Whenever the first flakes fell, I felt it in my head. It could be a reason for you but you have to track it and write down when your migraines are and when the storms hit if they aren't frequent enough for you to remember.

Its snowing here in southern England AGAIN Empty Weather migraines or not

Post  Hal Mon Feb 22, 2010 9:41 pm

Pen,

It isn't the weather per say. It is the change in barometric pressure. This would probably fall under the heading of a sinus migraine. Along with the change in air pressure, there is usually a change in the weather.

Gia,

Don't you know that when the snow-flakes get to be as big as golfballs that you are supposed to stay inside? No wonder you get a headache Very Happy Here in Oklahoma we get hail as big as golfballs and they really will give you a headache. I have run into hail like that while driving and ended up with a car that looked like the Jolly Green Giant took after it with a ball peen hammer. I thought that the windshield was going to break and my youngest daughter ( six at the time) thought she was going to die.

It seems that weather changes are horrible for all types of pain, not only for migraine.
As Hal says, the barometric pressure has a direct impact on sensitive bodies. As our migraineur's bodies are very sensitive....

I know Hal is right. It is the low pressure fronts that can set me off - whether there's precipitation or not. Oye...weather is not my friend. Have another front coming through today (day 3 in a row) - don't need to look at a forecast my head is so miserable. Thinking I'm going straight for the imitrex today before it gets worse. But as to the comment about other sensitive parts - if you've had nerve damage to anything, fronts can set it off.

I got stepped on by a cow really good 2 Christmases ago. Basically she hit the nerve that runs along the big toe bone. It was horrid at the time and it still can be a problem when stronger fronts come through and if I try to wear heels when a front comes through. My mom got her fingers crushed in an overhead garage door about a year and a half ago and her fingers are mini-barometers as well.

WitsEnd,

The UK is known for having alot of precipitation. It is also known for having alot of fog. Sooo, you are supposed to have alot of it. You could always move to Arizona or the middle of Africa or somewhere like that. Lots of dry, hot weather without many pressure changes.

Hal

No! We don't get a lot of fog in England. You've been reading too much Dickens! study Since the 50's and the Clean Air Act, we don't get a lot at all. You bet though if you read a book (written by an American Very Happy) and a plane lands at Heathrow, it will surely land in fog or rain. But we do have lots of cloud and not so much sun, so you're much better off you're side of the pond Very Happy Very Happy

We do get quite a bit of rain, but not as much as the world perceives. 25.9 inches for 2009.
We tend to get quite frequent showers, but not a lot of heavy rain.
As for fog, thankfully we got rid of that in the 1960s.
Since we became smokeless that's all gone. Too many Jack the Ripper films I think Hal.... Very Happy

We had snow last weekend again and suppose to this week again. I`ve seen more clouds this winter than blue sky. The temps are once again cold here.Usually by now the temps are better. I`m tired of this crapy weather.

We've had snow snow snow pretty much since the 18th December. It's getting really boring now. I wish spring would hurry up and come. Everyone here is sick fed up of it, I don't ever remember having this much snow.
