Sorry a moan - and oxygen

Apologies - moan first. I'm feeling a bit desperate today. After the few good days following the med break, now plummeting into the hormonal migraine time and finding it so hard to restrict the triptans. The last two days I’ve agonised for ages whether to take one, then when things got too bad I did take one, loathed myself for giving in, then of course as I’d waited so long they took hours to work. I’m so scared of getting into MOH again. Couldn't even tell my husband I'd taken one, had to text him (he sat with me for much of the withdrawal time and it wasn't a bundle of fun for him )

Another beautiful day outside and another day in bed. Sorry this is not self-pity just at blasted migraines combined with frustration and confusion.

Which is what brings me to oxygen – does anyone know please why it’s only helpful for cluster migraines. Has anyone successfully used it for aborting other migraines?

I will be trying it shortly and I will let you know. Anything is worth a shot. You can ask your hospital, tanning salon, spa, or other local area to see if they offer an "oxygen bar". It was quite popular in NYC a few years back, and it is especially popular for tanning. Apparently if you use pure oxygen before you tan in a bed, you get a better darker tan.

I got to try oxygen the last time I was in the ER. The dr said that it's been long used for cluster headaches, but there has been some promise in migraine patients also.

It did seem to help and I did not need as much medication as usual. I will try it again next time and if I get the same results I will get an rx for oygen at home.

heh good luck finding a place who will sell you an oxygen tank! I have tried numerous surgical suppliers and all say no! When you ask for the script, ask where you can get it too. I'm having a tough time finding one and finding a price for one too. I don't want to buy one yet though. I want to see if it works before I shell out the cash.

So sorry you feel so bad. I so understand. Especially about the Triptan taking.
Doesnt feel like there is anything to help us and few who care sometimes....

Good luck with the oxygen Lovegia, I really hope it helps you, yes please do feed back. Interesting too Shelli that there's been some promise using it for migraines other than cluster. My mother has oxygen in her home for emphysema - I've been apprehensive trying it in case I get dizzy, light headed or something but then if you get it in a tanning salon . . .

I think there is something about vassodilation as opposed to constriction, the oxygen works on one as a result and not the other something like that. Sorry I wish I could remember where I read it but everything has merged in my head.

This kind of interests me. First of all, long before I got migraines I had a neighbor that got migraines and used to run home to use oxygen at the onset of one. Second, I have been given oxygen in the ER and 3rd. I know someone who has an oxygen tank. I have no idea why they have it but I could find out why and where they got it. I will report back.
