Had second round of Botox injections last week!

Hi All....I have been meaning to get on here and talk about how my second round of injections of botox went for me. The shots this time, were very very painful, with lots of bleeding. Four days after the injections, I was in urgent care for a Demerol shot, and it did nothing for the pain. It worked really well in my first round, for about 6-7 weeks after. This past week, the migraines are with me, and they are bad. I am hoping that I am having a delayed reaction, and things will get better. I have also been really depressed. I remembered being depressed the first time, and it eventually got better. So for right now, all I can say is that I am taking it a day at a time, still thinking positive for good relief, and I will update this when I can. For those that have had botox before, did you get depressed at all? I am just curious, but do know that this is part of the routine, at least for a week or two, with the botox. Any comments/thoughts, would be greatly appreciated. That's it for now.

Do you know if your Botox dosage was higher this time? My neuro told me that he tried an increased dose for several patients the time before last, and all of us got worse with the higher dose. I was miserable but did not know he had increased dose.

As far as I could tell, my doctor had the same number of syringes and the same amount of botox as last time. My husband watched me get the injections, and he said that she did the injections in all of the same areas of my head. I would think my doctor would have to tell me if there were any changes in the amount. I am not getting much relief from this round and I am very depressed about it. I remember getting depressed with the first round also. Maybe it will kick in after a few more days in my system. Will let everyone know.

It usually kicks in somewhere between five and seven weeks for me, so you really could see benefits at an time. I hope you get relief soon!

Had the injections about 3 weeks ago, and have had "no" days without pain other than the day after Easter. The migraines are horrible, much worse than ever, but I still feel the botox will kick in and work for me. I have no other choice at this point but to think positive. If I was to rate my migraines on a scale of 1-10. my migraines would be at this point about a 15! I hope it kicks in eventually cuz it would be so nice not to have to start the day with a pain pill. My nights are awful too...too many bad dreams, heavy sweating and just not sleeping good at all. That's it for now. Wish me luck that it will help me soon.

How many injections do you get? I just went to a new neuro and he talked about when I come back in four months starting me on botox injections and he said that there are 31 injections total. That seems scary to me! The only experience I have with injections in my head is an occipital nerve block, which made the migraines much, much WORSE! I guess I'm just looking for some kind of reassurance that this might work and the 31 injections might be worth the pain of the injections. Any feedback is appreciated!!

I am into my second month of another round of injections that I got on April l5th. Like I said before, the first few weeks were the worst migraines I have EVER had and that alone says a lot!! It is a group of 31 injections, all done at the same visit, one right after the other in various areas of my forehead, head, neck and the last two go into my shoulders. I don't know why this last group was so painful and bled so much, but it was very painful and I bled more than the very first time I got them. I don't know at this point if I am going to get another round in the middle of July, when I am scheduled. I may skip it and wait till later in the year to do it again. I will wait and see how I feel once it is closer to the appointment. I hope I helped you, and feel free to ask anything else you may want.
