Has anyone else had corrective eye surgery?

I had corrective eye surgery about six years ago. It has done wonders for my athletic lifestyle but may have been the thing that triggers my head the most.

I swear my migraines became hell after the surgery. Anyone else have this experiance?

I had lasik surgery a couple of years after my migraine disease disabled me. Best money I ever spent - a real miracle not to have to wear glasses. I HIGHLY recommend lasik eye surgery to one and all. And yes, I needed bifocals and had a truly horrendous astigmatism at the time of the surgery.

My new and improved eyes had NO empact on my migraine episodes. None.

Hmm...my eldest had Lasik when he was 22. Swears by it. He was almost legally blind with out his glasses and every year getting worse. He said it's the best thing in the world to wake up in the middle of the night and know what time it is. No more messing with contacts, etc.

BUT, it was shortly after that he had his first migraine. Would he have gotten them anyway? I'm guessing so, there's a strong hereditary factor and both myself and my mother suffered terribly,

I'm evaluating it. I had the first visit with the eye doctor last week. I still need a particular exam of the eye and then I will have laser correction (it's not surgery I've been told).
I hope migraines won't worsen

Just a thought in a different direction. Whenever I up my athletisism I have a surge of migraines until I plateau.

As for lasik surgery, personally I would never do it. I was blind as a child for a month and the helplessness is still vivid in my memory. Plus, I don't trust fate to deal me a fair deal. I met someone who had something go horribly wrong and there are no eye transplants. So many success stories and to each their own, but the risk is too big for this girl.

I agree with Angela at this point. My opthamologist who is top notch in his field doesn't recommend it except when necessary just because of the chance (even though small) that something could go wrong. If you are content with contacts, do not need perfect vision, for example being a pilot, etc., why take the chance. It is your eyes, not a finger. Eventually a lot of us will need it for contaracts. I'm waiting until then when it is necessary, not an option. I know a lot of people get it done and eventually may be routine and even though it is basically safe, I'm holding out. My eyes, even though not perfect, can see. I know I will love it when the time finally comes! It wouldn't surprise me if the eyes and migraines are somehow related also.

I agree that it is the best thing I have EVER spent money on, bar none. Hands down.

To OP: I got it done as one of my many desperate attempts to get rid of the migraines/headaches & of course, it did not work..however, I do not think there is an increase in the severity/frequency either. It just really did nothing with regards to my migraine issues.

When it comes to migraine there are no answers, just pain and cursing.

I never wore glasses and a few years after my migraines began I got bifocals with a mild distance correction (mostly I hated always fishing for reading glasses or not having them when I needed them, it is easier to wear them all the time). Corrected vision didn't change my headaches at all.

I have had migraines for 20 some years and had the eye surgery done 10 years ago. No correlation for me at all. I cannot say the surgery effected my migraines in any way. I was a mess before and after It is awfully nice not having to mess with contacts, glasses etc some of the best money I have ever spent!
