This one seems to involve cutting the nerves.

Interesting. It works when I click it. Make sure you are getting the whole link into your browser.

Does not link here, or cut and paste into a browser window. Does not work on a Google search/link either, or links from other sites. I get the same error using them all.

Weird one... maybe a WIN8/Explorer issue. I dunno.

New migraine procedure Empty Mixed reviews?

Post  Mig_rainy Fri Jul 05, 2013 4:25 pm

My migraines tend to produce terrible trigeminal pain that often shoots into my eyeball and sometimes to the back of my throat. I sometimes think...if they could only calm that nerve...

This morning I saw the news item on such procedures:

http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/807393

(Apologies for the fractured posting--I'm migraining right now and should NOT be on the computer!!)

wow, i just read the whole medscape article posted by mig_rainy.  it's disappointing, for sure, that there is such disagreement among neurologists.  in my 44-yr migraine history, i have been far too quick to jump into unproven and usually expensive treatments.

older and wiser now, my hopes are once again dashed.  i did try botox with no success, so i guess that would remove me from the list of good candidates, anyway.

it's always a positive thing to read about innovative thinkers involved in this horrid disease, in any case.  dianne

There's lots of plastic surgeons doing variations on nerve cutting based on the Cleveland Clinic procedure. There are a few here in the bay area. Cost is high, I know a migraineur that spend $10k. The doctors always claim super high success rates, which are of course unverified.

Link works fine in firefox BTW.

I wouldn't think it was worth it to have any nerves in my head severed. I am able to take imitrex which allows enough relief for me. I dropped acid in HS once (this was the 90s ha) and didn't get migraines for half a year. People might say that is a huge risk. LSD is a huge risk. Well cutting nerves in a person's head is probably an even bigger risk.
