Ok guys, discuss........(nicely please).
In the U.K., do you have to be a citizen to get subsidized college education?

I am not entirely sure what you mean by subsidised education, since practically all our education system is state subsidised, but you can certainlyy qualify for students loans towards your tuitions fees at state universities, even if you are citizen of some other countries, like European Union member states (over twenty of them).
I am not sure what the rules are for students from other countries, sorry.
There are also valuable scholarships granted to excelling students - I believe JFK was beneficiary of such scholarship as well as many other prominent people from your side of the pond.

My daughter is going to school in the UK, so I can answer this. The rules state you have to be a legal resident for at least 3 years, not going to school. So while it accepts foreign students, and EU students, they don't get the UK resident rate. Due to some interesting laws, my daughter can get UK citizenship (her father was born there although both he and she are US citizens). But that still won't get her the UK rate.

I didn't see Migrainegirl's post before I was about to answer, but one of my three best friends is an international student at the University of Kent in Canterbury (yes, think Chaucer). She was born in Israel but is a U.S. citizen. So I texted her with questions about fees and financial aid and such. I went into more detail about extra things than Migrainegirl wrote, so we'll see what Shirley has to say. She is getting her Ph.D. in social psychology there because you can get her Ph.D. faster (theoretically) in England than in the U.S. She got her M.A. in one year, which is almost impossible to do here unless you go to a diploma mill school, and hers isn't. She is in her 3rd of her the Ph.D. program and just needs to finish her thesis (they call the M.A. paper a dissertation and the Ph.D. paper a thesis, which is opposite of the U.S.).
We stay very close because she has a number through Google Voice that allows her to have a U.S. phone number that is directed to her British phone and lets her get free text messages! So we text each other back and forth. We could probably talk via Skype, but we haven't. We just have long and frequent text message conversations. It's nice because I can write when I'm up for writing, and she responds when she's up for responding. So often when I get up, there is a message from Shirley! And if I'm in pain late at night, then it's convenient that she is often up at that time, and we can text to keep me company, especially if I'm waiting to be able to go to Kaiser for a morphine shot, but have to wait until the office will open and until my parents get out of bed to be able to take me. Shirley helps me count down the hours and minutes! She's great! She has her own medical issues, so she really understands mine well!
