Episodes of extreme medication

What happens when you hit a bad run and have to use lots more of your medication?
Do you go into a downward spiral, or do things go back to "normal" eventually please?

I always panic when I have to up the Triptans.
I hate them, but I hate the pain more.

I looked back and 3 years ago I was taking less. 8/11
The last 2 years, although it felt like I have many more,
I have actually been taking pretty much 9/12 a month and it isnt increasing.
Okay I had one month where I took 13....Hey it was Christmas and i had the flu....

I know some have said that they now just take what they need and to Hell with it.
But I guess I am not so brave, and apparently quite anxious...
I dont want to go into MOH, and so far have been cleared of it.
But I have no alternative. Triptan, Excedrin or NSAID is all I have.
And I have no contact with any medics that understand/care.
So I am on my own here...

You guys have al been through this I know.
Someone mentioned it just the other day.
But to go back to where we came in.
Will it get better, do things go back to normal, even if you have had loads....

My migraines always go in cycles...there will be months that will be horrible. I will live off the triptans, sometimes 2 a day (which is a no-no for me) and it will seem endless. Then suddenly it just stops and goes back to the normal two migraines a week once again.

Makes no sense...but yes for me eventually there is a break and I pray that for you a break is soon on the horizon.

I checked my last November/December diary and it seems this time of year was not dissimilar in 2009.
So I gave in and took the Migard at noon.
Amazing. It worked in about 70 mins, and the side effects have been minimal.
I cant figure that.
Did I not need it, or did I need it so bad it hit it....

Anyone?

I usually have one bad episode a month. I'm usually wiped out for a day (and I can handle that), but the bigger issue is I'm shorted with my meds until my strict refill date.

Usually things for me go back to a "normal" state for me--a tollerable daily headache.

I've had some luck getting a few things balanced (and some disease processes) with medications where I'll get a really bad migraine.

I can't ever take triptans, so my doctor has prescribed a few medications to take to knock the pain out as much as possible. Things gradually get better over a couple days.

I hate pain meds, but it's the only choice and I take them rarely. I do take Tylenol though. Not the best, but has much less side-effects than the meds for me.
