There are many of us on here who are attached in some way to many in the medical field.

I can bet that many of us have at least one professional we could invite to "visit" the site and answer specific questions.

I think this would be really cool.

The person could be invited by a trusted forum member, register under a new name and then make plan to visit at a specific date. We could allow them to keep annoymous if they like as long as a known member can assure us that they are what they say they are.

Let's make a list of the types of professionals we would like to see visit then see what we can do.

I'd love to see an:
1) eye doctor
2) accupuncturist
3) physiotherapist
4) chiropractor
5) registered massage therapist
6) mental health professional
7) nurse from ER

What about you all?

I find it kind of amusing that you didn't mention a neurologist.

We all pretty much have neurologists to ask questions of. lol. Also, that was just my own little list...I'm sure there are many, many more.

It would be pretty cool if we could find one willing though. I bet my last headache specialist would if I could track her down. She just moved to Australlia though.

The question is "Who would you like to have as a visiting professional?" not if you know any.

I'm pretty sure we could find someone to donate their time. I do it all the time and it's something I enjoy and it gives me a feeling of "giving back".

I'm confident we could find someone for almost every profession we would like.

Nice idea, Milo!!!
I personally know quite well a few people on your list...
I would love to hear from a therapist or psychologist/psychiatrist who deal with people with chronic pain. (a little TOO specific, eh?!!)
Rather, any expert in chronic pain who is not a patient!!

I think most experts in chronic pain are also sufferers, or they know someone/ knew someone close who is/was.

Milo,

What about a pharmacist or pharmacy tech? I know many times I have questions about why my insurance will or won't fill my meds. Or why certain drugs act a certain way.

What a great idea! I can think of a whole lotta questions to ask! Unfortunately, I don't know anyone who'd be able to contribute.

We have a pharmacist on here from time to time already.

Oh, I understand, Milo! But, I would really like to know the mechanisms on how the insurance company and pharmacies interact. My pharmacists are great and I think they get as frustrated with my insurance as I do.

No, I wouldn't dream of complaining to someone who was willing to volunteer their time to answer our questions. I just know how many times I come out the pharmacy going "Hunh?"

Sorry Paradox, that was not directed at you.

I'm really frustrated right now and I suppose more sensitive then normal and I feel as though some people just keep responding negatively to every idea that gets brought up, or always finds ways to let us all know that it won't work or isn't needed.

I took a break from here a while back for that reason and it seems I may need to again.

It's me, I'm stressed and frustrated. Sorry.
