Neurotransmiters Empty Neurotransmiters

Post  pen Wed May 26, 2010 1:28 pm

From a friend, can anyone advise her please?

its a treatment ive been offered as its more long term than the injections, you basically have a little piece put in the back of your head connected to 2 batteries under your skin at the front and it lets off little electric impulses which if it works works well and you just get the batteries changes every 2 years or so. the nhs dont like paying for it though and you have to put forward a strong case to get the funding!! hard to find anyone whos had it though.

I havent heard of it so thought i would ask my erudite team here.... Smile

Neurotransmiters Empty Occipital nerve stimulation

Post  crt Wed May 26, 2010 7:39 pm

Pen,

As I recall, a few people on Ronda's have/had the stimulator. I think at least one of them had to have it removed because of side effects. I hope that they will post so you can hear from folks who actually have experience with the device.

I am not sure if we talk about the same device, but I heard about it. Here it's implanted only on patients who suffer from cluster headaches and not generic migraine. It seems that has given back a life to those who have clusters.
