Secondary hypothyroidism
Does anybody else have secondary hypothyroidism?
My TSH is normal but the T4's are low. It is usually from a pituitary tumor. I don't have one.I t is a miss fire from the Pituitary gland. The thyroid is working but the problem is from another site.

Re: Secondary hypothyroidism
Kathy,
Are these levels normally checked or are there symptoms that make them look for it?

Re: Secondary hypothyroidism
Sorry I disappeared. Usually the docs only run the TSH. My TSH is normal but my T4's are low. I have had this show up several times before take th Synthroid and it goes back to normal for couple years. Never had trouble with Synthroid before but this time it caused rapid irregular heart rates that were hard to stop. I would feel like I was fainting. My Endocrinologist upped my dose til I couldn't stand the irrehular heart rate and I stopped taking it. His response to the heart rate problem was"maybe you need an EKG" Waiting for an appointment with a new doc.
