Zopiclone and Migraine
A week ago my doctor prescribed zopiclone for my insomnia issues. During this past week I have had 4 migraines all with headache (normally I get just bad aura).
Has anyone ever had a bad reaction to zopiclone and do you think this could be causing the on onslaught of migraine for me or is it just coincidence? I tried googling but couldnt get any answers. Thanks!

LUNESTA
zopiclone is the brand-name lunesta. it is a non-benzodiazipine hypnotic agent.
benzos are notoriously tolerance producing. this means that they are best for short-term use. most people, though, who have insomnia or other sleep disorders have them long-term. BUT the non-benzos also build tolerance in some people and there are warnings to this effect in the drug insert pages.
there really aren't any perfect drugs for insomnia. an 88-yr old lady i visited today in a nursing home takes ambien, and it works wonderfully for her. her insomnia, though, is likely just a result of BEING in the nursing home, and not in her familiar bed. she never needed sleep aids before.
none of the non-benzos work for me; they not only don't put me to sleep, but they cause more head pain.
so this might be the case for you. only going off it for a time will tell you if that's what's happening. dianne
