Piers Morgan
What do you think of our British export - how is Piers Morgan doing in US?
So difficult to imagine seeing him in a show across the pond.

I respect the guy. A lot of British 'imports' (I only use it because you said exports) are seen as rude and loud mouthed before they are smart. A shock factor in the entertainment industry.
Piers Morgan comes across as intelligent and thoughtful first. Blunt second. I like to hear of what questions he comes up with and what he has to say.

He's definitely blunt. Nobody has to wonder what is on his mind. He does seem quite intelligent. At times he seems rude and abrasive though. I can never decide whether I like him or not.

Re: Piers Morgan
I must say I am not Piers Morgan's fan. He is not very much liked here, but recently he became more popular, since he made series of interviiews with some well liked celebrities on TV.
I can see that he might seem rude in US - because he is.
Also I think our journalist in UK have often much more agressive style of interviewing, and sometimes they do not hide their dislike of interviewed person, asking provocative questions to get the answer they want, or just to create controversy.
You should hear how some of our established TV jpurnalist, like Jeremy Paxman interview our politicians...J P is a real star, never affraid to shoot from the hip. We like that, since he knows how to make politicians account for what they are doing.
I just wonder how Piers Morgan will seem to you, once the novelty wears off. It will be interesting to watch what happens next.

Re: Piers Morgan
I haven't watched the show yet, as I was a bit turned off by the pre publicity. He was standing there looking quite pompous with his arms crossed saying something along the lines of "I don't just report the news, I MAKE the news".
The last thing I'm interested in is another media head who wants to BE the news.
I realize that at no time has the media been truly unbiased, but I wish we could just hear the facts. Give me the the who, what, when and please DON'T speculate as to the why!!
I like watching the BBC news on occasion because I get a totally different outlook on US news.

Re: Piers Morgan
Pompous is the right word for Piers Morgan.I agree.
I think he would be laughed at if he started shouting "I am the news" here - I rather suspect that he was trying to be "American" with such blatant self-publicity.
As I said I wonder how long he will seem amusing for his American audience.
He does not have a lot of TV experience, he was mostly in newspapers until he was sacked for publishing fake stories:

Re: Piers Morgan
Ha ha! So he was truly making the news, as in making it up that is.
Many of us are shaking our heads wondering where this guy came from. He started out with a bang.. Oprah...but already this week he down to Kourtney Kardasian....

Re: Piers Morgan
You can send him away when the novelty wears off (it sounds as it alreay is) but whatever you do, please, please do not send him back home, to UK.
Maybe he should try Australia next? Sorry our Aussie friends, this is much too good for him, I know, But he will keep trying....
