Flunarizin/Sibelium
Hi everyone.
I was wondering if anyone has experience of using Flunarizin as a preventative. I think it is also known as Sibelium.
I was prescribed this by my neurologist at the end of September last year and have been taking 5mg each night. It doesn't seem to be having much effect on my migraine attacks either in severity or frequency and the background migraine type headache I have between times is still there. So it doesn't seem to be doing much.
Family members have noted that my mood is low and that I have no drive to do anything. I have often had periods of depression linked to my struggle with chronic migraine and I'm not sure if this is more of the same or linked to the Flunarizine. I recognise I am bad at the moment.
Depression is listed as a possible side effect and I'm going to discuss this with my GP tomorrow.
One problem is that I'm not due to go back to the neurologist for another 3 or 4 months. He said that I must take the stuff for 6 months before we know if it is effective. It's unlikely I will get an earlier appointment.
Has anyone had any success with this drug?

Re: Flunarizin/Sibelium
Hi
One of my neighburs took Sibelium over years and was very happy with it. I don't recall if she was completely free of migraines but what she told me made me try it, too (many years ago).
Unfortunately it didn't work for me.

Re: Flunarizin/Sibelium
It is quite popular M preventive in Poland, it has some good results with M but yeah, not so good s/e
as indeed it causes depression
so in PL it is discontinued usually after 3 months for a med- break.
So if you noticed low mood, and not much difference in M, it's not worth it, tink tink..
