Was sent this link suggesting they are more of a potential problem than first thought.

Good grief. Due to the amount of tylenol/acetomeniphen in my medication, I asked my pain dr about switching to an old formulation- asapirin with codeine, which I have had before. He said they stopped making things with aspirin because of people with stomach problems. So, now, they are worried about tylenol. Right now, the pain is bad. I know what I am taking, my dr knows, my physician parents knoqw, and if tylenol 3 will give me a better life now, I will live with the possibility of liver problems later. Everything is a trade-off. Besides very few pain patients will take enough to cause liver danage.

Aspirin is turning out to be a bit of a saviour in it's old age. It is providing protection from quite a few forms of cancer and heart attacks.

I would use it over any of the other NSAIDS and paracetamol is like smarties to me....
I have IBS but have never had anything more than an occasional bit of stomach pain (hormonal acidity) from taking aspirin.
I tis still our most common pain killer and is in many compounds. Drs always push toward paracetamol, but no one in my family find it any use. Ibuprofen is good for period cramps and nothing else in our family.
At least, so far, nothing worse than the threat of stomach bleeding has come about with aspirin in many many many years of use.
But as if ours lives weren't difficult enough.....what next....how are we supposed to deal with our pain and have a life....yes that was a bold statement wasnt it: "life".

Good grief! Liver damage, heart attack, stroke, or incapacitation with migraine? Not much of a choice is it?

No it isnt. It seems they cant punish us enough. Take the drugs, dont take the drugs. The drugs are good, the drugs are bad, the drugs are damaging you, so what....suffer the pain....WHO can do that? Not me....

They do make Vicoprofen - hydrocodone and ibuprofen (7.5/200).
Works well too.
