Some positive hope for a change
There just might be the light at the end of the tunnel for some of us. I just made it through the holidays without a migraine. It is the first time I went this long without one period and add to that all the triggers of the holiday season. I even manged to have alcohol (including wine) on New Years Eve, endured loud music and flashing lights and stayed up until 4:00 in the morning, got up early to snowmobile in bitter temperatures and ate the holiday foods that I usually steer away from like chocolate in quantity, etc. Toss in a lot of stress--I was busy the whole season.
I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm sure my migraines didn't just stop but who knows. They may be changing. Just wanted to post this to give everyone some hope.

Good to hear Linda. I had a reasonable time, and have just had 5 free days. Taken my first Triptan in 6 days.
I have been troubled by what I think is sinus pain in my teeth, but so nice to prove to myself I can go without the triptans.
Lets hope we are both in for an improvement.
Happy New Year.

Re: Some positive hope for a change
OK, it is Tuesday and still no migraine. This is amazing. I have the stress of a bathroom remodel, lots of snow where I live which blinds me when I walk outside and to top it off (I just have to live on the edge), I snuck in a glass of wine for a "test" and then decided to make it 2 glasses. I had pretty much given up alcohol of any kind about 10 years ago when I figured they might be a trigger. No migraine!!!
Something definitely is changing. I have had them for maybe 12 years 3-4 times a week just like clock work. I have done nothing different. If anything, I have been a bit wreckless. I do not believe they have stopped but to go this long without one is amazing. I can't remember when I had the last one but it was before Christmas. I am not taking any preventatives or doing anything different. As I suspected all along, iI think it is all a hormonal thing and maybe I am finally leveling out.
I will keep you posted as to when I actually end up with one.

Thanks Becky, Not too bad today either. No migraine, just the myofascial pain and this dumb sinus problem.
Hope it lasts and wish the same for you.

Fantastic Linda, I hope it continues. As you and I seem to have had the same problems, this gives me hope.

Re: Some positive hope for a change
May I ask if you have hit menopause? I just ask because I have hormonal ones too and I hope they will stop some day. That is awesome. Keep us all posted! That was brave on the 2 glasses of wine. Makes me jealous...haha

Re: Some positive hope for a change
Bailyrox - Yes I have hit menopause. My migraines didn't start until peri-menopause though. I only had migraines around my period at that time. When I finally hit menopause at 55 instead of them stopping they became more frequent (3-4 times a week). I was very disappointed. It wasn't until this break that I had any hope of them improving. It is too soon to be sure but I am optimistic. A year ago even a sip of wine or a bright light would have sparked a migraine. I will keep posting on my progress. This is a huge change and if it continues I want to give hope to others.

Linda, how exciting!
Wow! Wine! What's that? I gave that up years ago since it's sure fire trigger, but oh for some grapes and cheese and a nice Beaujolis...
Sounds like you had so much fun. Kudos for having the nerve to go out and do it, knowing yu were facing so many triggers. I'm glad you were pleasantly rewarded for your bravery!

Thanks Charlotte. We will see what the future holds. I still am migraine free. I have popped a few over the counter pills as a safety measure, but so far, so good. I would think the weather alone right now would be triggering them.

Re: Some positive hope for a change
Linda I am so jealous, whilst being pleased for you. I wish I could have something like this occur.
I did get 5 days, but that isnt unusual and was still having the myofascial pain.
We have really cold weather with lots of snow here. Apparently the humidity is 95%.
I am not sure if the weather effects me at all.
So sick of blaming things trying to make sense of it all.
Keep going.....and keep us posted.

Re: Some positive hope for a change
Pen - IF this proves to be a permanent improvement (you notice I say "if"), I am convinced it was all hormonal. Maybe the weather, stress, sleep, etc. etc. were triggers on top of the hormones but weren't the culprits. I will for sure keep everyone posted. This is a huge thing for those of us that have hormonal migraines to know that there is hope that these migraines are not for life.
