Combining 2 anti-convulsants. Empty Combining 2 anti-convulsants.

Post  Astarte-Moon Mon Mar 08, 2010 9:57 am

Hi, I'm due to see my neuro tomorrow and I wondered if anybody had much experience of combining 2 anti-convulsants at the same time. I have tried pretty much everyone there is one their own so now we are going to try combining but it would be useful if anyone has had any success with any in particular.
I am currently on lamictal and topomax which has been moderately successful but reaching the end of its efficacy now so time to move on.....
Would really appreciate any feedback.
Thanks everso much
Alison

My first reaction..OMG! But I'm also very sensitive to medications and when I've mixed them in the past...the outcome was not good. My only thought is to be very careful. You may be fine and others may have tried this and have better advice than I do.

I take Lyrica and Neurontin and haven't had any problems although I have developed Tinnitus and am trying to figure our which of the 3 meds I am taking is ccausing it.

I am having fewer migraine so it is helping.

I was on nuerontin and topomax together for years and never had any adverse side effects. I was on 200mg nuerontin, 300mg topo. The combo never helped me though. Now I'm on just topomax and its just more effective on its own, for me. Lower dose, too.

Interesting.

I was at one point on Lyrica and Neurontin together and I developed Tinnitus and still get it a ton (tho not AS much as when on those 2 together). I'm not on either now...and haven't been for a year.

I take topamax and lyrica and have taken topamax and neurontin in the past. Neurontin sucked for me. Topamax and lyrica was moderately successful for awhile but is now starting to not work so well so I'm also trying some new things.
