Pain that......
Goes away, by itself.
I get sudden bad pain, like today, dragging up the back of my head from my neck.
It got really bad. It kicked in about 5.30pm By the time it was 7pm (and I hate to medicate so late in the day) having managed without. I decided to try to wait it out. This was hard, it was about an 8.
I ate dinner, and a half hour or so later, it improved.
I still have it, and my ears are ringing so loud, its driving me nuts....
But it is about a 5 now with the odd push.
But I wondered, how does this pain sort itself out...
It ran for about 2 hours or so.
I do find that hot food sometimes improves my pain.
But it is only a sometimes, so don't know why it helps. Cant always be blood sugar, and I had had late lunch.
I get this sudden pain quite often. I usually end up taking something.
When it backs off...assuming it does, I dont know if it was the medication, or it was resolving anyway.
Does anyone else experience this please?
I cant fathom it.

Re: Pain that......
Pen,
I get icepicks, come on strong, last a while then fade off. Then move to a new spot and repeat. Why they fade I'm not sure. I do get others, but it's more pressure feeling rather than true pain.
It does seem like there is a pain cycle though. It's like they can't last longer than so long (I don't know the time - I haven't paid that close of attention). It is probably a physiologic function. Interesting observation though.

Re: Pain that......
I dunno
It happens to me almost every day. I get a stub in my temple, or eye. It lasts 5 minutes and then goes away....

I get the short sharp pains too, but these other ones come and feel as if they could be migriane coming, but some will become migraine and others go away. They last from one to two hours if they might go.,
Very hard to chose to medicate or not...

Re: Pain that......
I just need to update this. It happened again today.
5pm ish, the same sort of pain, and I managed to wait it out without medication.
By 7.30 it was greatly improved. It had been pretty nasty.
Mow its 1am and I must get some sleep, but isnt it weird....

Re: Pain that......
These posts concern me!
I have been told on numerous occasions that if you have a sudden onset of pain like a stabbing pain or one that feels like a thunder clap you should seek emergency treatment ASAP!
I hope everyone here is taking that into consideration...

Re: Pain that......
No its nothing like that. thanks anyway. Been going on for years, it is just that recently it has backed off on its own.
If I considered every stabbing pain an emergency (and thats hard living in England) I would be at the doctors every day.
I dont think would know a pain like a thunder clap though, that's a new one.
Please dont be concerned. Im not. I'm pleased.

Re: Pain that......
Dan,
If it was sudden and completely overwhelming I probably would go straight to the ER. I haven't yet gone for pain but there have been a few times I probably should have, in retrospect. The kind of pain I'm referring to occurs on a daily basis for me and may make me groan and reach for my drugs but I'm able to be at work and still function. This is unfortunately normal for me...it's when my first and second lines of defense fail and it's been longer than an hour or two that I start to get worried.
On a positive note - I'm on day 8 of no major M, just the little annoying symptoms (few icepicks here and there but it's been very mild). Been under H pressure for the last 8 days and I'm loving it.
