Re: Vistaril

Reading the post about Midrin being discontinued made me think of my dilema.

I have been getting my pain shots for 12 years now and either get Nubain or Demerol and Vistaril.

This has been a lifesaver for me because it will break that 3 or 4 day migraine that my other meds won't touch.

About 8 months ago, I was told that they can no longer get the Vistaril.

I cannot take phenergan, reglan, or compazine because they give me that reaction where my arms and legs twitch uncontrollably and I can't stand still. I get that really creepy crawly feeling too. It is awful!

Lately my doctor has been giving me benadryl with the shot and it works OK but not nearly as good as the Vistaril did.

Has this been an issue for anyone else?

My doctor gave me the explanation as to why they can't get it. Has something to do with the FDA but I can't remember what he said! (What a surprise huh?)

No problem with it here...I just had an injection of Vistaril on Sunday. I hope you can find a way to get it again.

Hmmm...I had visteral during both my labors. Really helped the projectile vomiting (only time hubby had to leave the room, though he did say it was impressive that I hit a wall 6 feet away! Poor guy).

I've had the creepy crawlies when I took the phenegran to soon after the first dose. How miserable that was. Couldn't lay down, couldn't stand up...doing jumping jacks at 3:00 am to try and shake it off.

I use Zofran right now and it is working very well. Have you tried it?
