And the need to apologise? Or have you managed to move past that?
I seem to be forever apologising for messing people about, for things I cant do when I ought to be able to.
For just generally screwing up things with my family
The guilt goes with all of this as well. I worry people will think I am just lazy; getting up late, sitting on the couch half the day, going to bed early. It makes me feel like a pretty useless person, and I long for the one I used to be. No one does this to me, I do it all by myself....
Anyone else struggle with this please?
I do hope it isn't just me.

I feel guilty and I apologize but I'm not sure that everyone understands and this is frustrating.

I find myself tripping over apologies. I don't know why half the time, and I agree people do wonder why. But I just feel so guilty for all the screw ups. But I think most of all I feel bad for not being the person I used to be....

Pen,

Most assuredly, I do. It's part of the depression as a result of being in pain all the time.

This migraine disease just turns our lives upside down and inside out. Few people can understand all the ways it affects us.

And not enough try. I am constantly disappointed by the lack of empathy from people whom I have helped so much when I was still able..It hurts...

Pen, I feel so guilty all the time because I have a 14 yo son who is very angry with me for not being able to spend very much time with him. He is a High Functioning Autistic and definitely makes my migraine worse when trying to deal with him.

The bad thing is I KNOW people think bad things about me because my son has no filter. He tells me the things people say about me being lazy or just not wanting to work. It hurts. I know the people at work look at me whenever I make it in there look at me and think she looks fine she must just be making this up. Less and less people at work will talk to me. No one feels sorry for me. No one believes that I WANT to be at work and have a normal life. Sometimes I try to explain to my son that these things he tells me hurt my feelings but he doesn't understand. He wants me to just get better. I want to just get better. I think 1 1/2 years is long enough for this migraine.

I feel especially guilty for my husband who has to pick up the extra slack; errands, grocery shopping and taking care of things when I am "out with a migraine". My family I don't worry about so much b/c they just don't understand and don't seem to want to. His family is great and is very understanding so I do feel very bad when I miss one of their events b/c of migraine.

I always feel guilty when taking a day off work or having to go home early. I always feel really bad and I can't help but think that people must think I'm "at it" or being dramatic. But I know they don't think these things and it's just me being paranoid.

After all, we can't help it, and thankfully most people I'm around are understanding.

Yes...I feel guilty all the time. I feel guilty when I mess up plans and when my husband has to take time off work to take me to the doctor. And I get the guilt trip from people who don't think I'm doing enough to make myself better. No

I feel guilty all the time for my daughter and my husband. A lot of times he has to pick up extra slack when I don't want to take my meds. I restrict myself so I don't ever have to worry about dependence, I like to take two days off in a row during a week so I know I won't have any withdrawal symptoms. Then there are the really tough times when I take my meds and they don't work which happens at least once a month, too. He has learned a lot about doing household chores like dishwasher, cleaning the litterbox, baby bottles, ect. A lot of the major cleaning doesn't get done and that makes me feel really bad. I never have a 100% clean house like I used to and that gets me down a lot. I FEEL lazy! Mad

Seems we are all the same. Big guilt trip. Reading your responses makes me feel better for not being alone in this, but i wish we didnt find ourselves feeling this way. I get so sick of apologising. I get told I dont need to, but I feel I must.... No

This one is especially true for me.....and sometimes I get so tired of peoply who are honestly just trying to help by suggesting really off-the-wall treatments because someone they know has gotten better with it. I can't say how many times they've come back weeks later and said that person who got better is now right back where they started with the migraines. I'm just tired of going on and going off meds--it's just an up/down roller coaster ride affecting my head, body, sleep and emotions. Sad
