Bummer. New triptan

Post  pen on Wed Feb 10, 2010 9:09 am

I finally braved trying a new triptan, as recommended.
I am so glad I didnt do it on one of my absolute worst migraines.

Score:

Migard 7 Almogran 4.

Side effects faster and bit worse, mainly spaciness.
Pain relief. After 3 hours. From 7 to 6.
Migard can take 3/5 hours but I had hoped this one would be better.

So disappointed. Been told Almotriptan was punchier and faster working.
Better to hit the overnighters (which they all are).
Worst thing is I a now stuck. Cant take a migard instead.

Last night I tried a Diclofenac, for the nerve pain thing.
I think it might have helped a bit. Not sure if more than Anadin, but perhaps an alternative....

Anyway head hurting, getting off here.

Before i toddle off to bed. The Almogran; Axert I just found out...
Took over 5 hours to really do anything.
Gave me as many hours of side effects ,and appears to have slightly upset my stomach.
The real downer is now I have to get thrpugh tomorrow before I can take a Migard/Frova.

Back to the drawing board I guess.

Anyone else had Axert, did they work for you??

Axert isn't new in the US. Its been around for a while. I tried it about 8 years ago. It didn't really do anything for me.

It isn't new here either, but not used much. I have had one other that didn't do a thing, Naraptriptan/Amerge.
I gave them away.

Been great trying to get through today not being able to take a Migard.

Thanks for at least telling me its not just my experience.

Oh, yeah, Amerge was terrible, I tried that too. Did absolutely nothing for me, was a complete waste of money. Too bad it hasn't improved with time. LOL

Just tried Frova again after several years, and was pleasantly surprised that it worked well for me. So there's my two cents' worth. Smile
