How Was Your Valentine's Day? Empty How Was Your Valentine's Day?

Howdy

Lovely Valentine's Day here. I cannot believe it but Thom and I went for a walk-climb-hike in an abandoned gold and diamond mine (found nothing) that is adjacent to Ravenhurst. The 3 dogs had a blast and completely wore themselves out.

Thom is not real good yet at figuring me out for gifts. And I,neve being shy, took charge. While he was at Lenscrafters getting new glasses, I wandered in the mall a bit. I found a garnet ring, pndant, and a few other rings I liked. I told the great sales woman that when I walked by with a tall man, she should call out to Thom and show him my choices to choose from.

You ought to have seen Thom's face when a complete stranger called out to him by name in a very friendly manner - and I told him to go visit his friend as I had other things to do. Complete SHOCK! But he bought me a garnet ring AND a garnet pendant. Not too shabby. He also bought me a box of chocolate that somehow disappeared quickly. LOL

We also had a lovely with friends up in Magalia. A very nice day. Very nice.

We also went to a Valentine's Dinner Dance on Saturday night with dedication songs. I dedicated one song to "Steve - All who knew you love you." Thom dedicated the exact same song to me with a very sweet message. So everyone danced to the three of us - Me, Thom, AND Steve. I am so fortunate that Thom does not have a jealous bone in his body and supports my love for my beloved Steve. He knows the human heart can love more than one man at the same time. Great guy I landed.

Saturday morning, we made more homemade Valentine's (many had alredy gone out in the mail) We signed them and put them in blank envelopes. At the dinner-dance I looked around for friends and put their name on the envelope to hand deliver them. Made a lot of couples and friends very happy that night. LOL

Sounds lovely and fun, Richard.

My guy and I have been together for 8 years and we went for a long walk on the dyke like we do every weekend. We talked about how lost we were when we found each other and how rich our lives have become in all these years. All the good things that have come out of our union and how much we are still in love and enjoy each other's company. He bought me flowers and I gave him his favorite cinnomen hearts. After dinner at our favorite Greek restaurant, we watched the Olympics all cuddled on the couch. I could die now.

Money has been really tight here this year, so we didn't do anything with gifts. I also had a terrible migraine most of the day. Frank didn't want me to have to cook, so we got take out, but I honestly was so sick I didn't enjoy it. We finished the night snuggled up in bed watching TV. Not exciting, but we did the best we could with what we had. lol

Hmmm...I just TELL Hubby exactly what I want. Richard, you are much more devious (oh, um, sorry...subtle) than I am!

Not much on Valentines Day. Hubby had sent me flowers at work on Sat. but SUnday morning I got a homemade card from my youngest. He was so proud of it. He snuck in my room at 6:00 am and laid it on my sleeping body. I found it when I woke up.

No fancy dinner...the Daytona was on!

I love "no monetary cost" presents best! And homemade Valentine cards top my list. Fun to make and fun to give and fun to receive. Now that's a lot of fun for a few pennies in construction paper, a hole punch, and some scissors.

Another fun present is quilts. My roommate Otis is becoming a grandfather again in May. I got him to surrender to me three shirts he sort of likes but does not wear often. the shirts became 4 inch patches and the patches will become a baby quilt. Cheap and sure to be an heirloom in that family. I ask my Mom to let me inherit some of my Dad's shirts. Next Chritmas each of three brothers will receive a stocking made from Dad's shirts. I am certain they will love them as much as I will love to make them. Quilting has a lot going for it for a migrainer on disability. It can be done in low light, it is absolutely silent, and it takes a lot of time - I have lots of time for quiet, dark activity! LOL

Indeed Richard, that is such a lovely gift idea--the quilted objects.

There is a young father of four little kids who recently died of cancer in our community. For Christmas he had teddy bears made with his shirts (worn so they smelled like him). He made them for each child and for his wife, and he wrote a message on each bear.

That made me cry when I read it.

I thought time in the spa tub would be fun but Jim (my live in boyfriend) slept late and by the time he got up my daughter was up and it just didn't seem romantic anymore. He made me breakfast and then we headed for the lake to snowmobile and watch motor bike racing on the ice. Had a beer at the lodge and came home.

The night before I went to a play with my girlfriends. One of them made up a big plate of treats for each one of us. Jim's daughter (18) has a Valentine's Day birthday and my daughter (17) had forgotten all about it and felt so bad when she stopped over, so I had her give her the plate of treats my friend had given me. Worked out well.

I have panned the creek bed inthe old Cherokee mine but found no color. This is also supposed to be the only american diamond mine. I only find quartz at Ravenhurst ... that is a good sign of gold ... but I still ain't rich. Bah! Humbug!! LOL

The teddy bear idea is so touching, Cheryl. What a wonderful idea, especially with the familiar smell on the shirts. The more senses touched, the more meaningful and more deeply felt.

I love the quilt and stocking ideas, too, Richard.

We were able to spend Valentines Day with my youngest son and his girlfriend. My son gave me the most sentimental and lovely Valentine that I was crying by the time I finished reading it. A very wonderful day. I love my family.

Well, I cancelled a date I had with a guy who had turned into a stalker. Very Happy And that's not a joke!

Instead, I spent the day with my favorite valentine, my 3-year-old nephew. I babysat him for the day so his parents could go out. Nathaniel and I went to the park, cooked spaghetti that he decided not to eat (he demanded, and got, a hotdog, instead!), watched "Toy Story 2", his current favorite cartoon, colored in his coloring books, played cars, and had a great day before he finally went to sleep. It was lovely. I love you

Oh, LMAO The knife isn't nearly as exciting. The picture is from an album cover of the group She Wants Revenge. I like it because it implies someone who's silent but deadly - like me Very Happy The name of the group is apropos too. So is their music, if you're familiar with it.

Well, the stalker isn't nearly as exciting as it would seem. I met him at the career center/unemployment office - how droll. But he works there, so I figured he probably wasn't a deadbeat and so agreed to go out with him. What a mistake. He would not leave me alone, constantly texting and calling and paying me very juvenile complements. I'm a grown woman, I don't need complements that sound as if they came from a high school freshman's playbook. I want a man who talks straight to me. I told him that and cut him loose.

See, boring story. I wish the knife did play into it. But if that changes, I'll let you know! Twisted Evil

Well, our first Valentine's as husband and wife could have been better....
I woke up with a bad migraine, vomited most of Sunday morning and was too sick to go anywhere in the afternoon.
Hubby was very comprehensive and supportive. He gave me a red rose placed in a very orginal heart-shaped vase. The rose is coated with wax, so it will never die I love you
I gave him his favourite chocolate which, for the occasion, were heart-shaped.

Bye

Well my new flame was supposed to have his children on Sunday, we had decided that we would pretend that it was Valentines Day the following Wednesday when we had planned to go out.

Sunday afternoon he calls and tells me that he is on the way to my house, giving me about an hour warning!!
I ran around like a mad woman fixing myself up, straightening the house!!!

He arrived, with a dozen roses in hand, it was really awesome!!

And he is cooking me dinner to nite Smile

VDay with the family. We went down to the beach (did not get out but went for an hour drive around it). And got carmel apples to share.

My VDay weekend was pretty good. I saw the Harlem Globe Trotters. That was cool. Oh, I asked out my guy friend of 3 years and was turned down. He was out of town, but said he was sorry and he would have loved to. ... Which I was going all 'he's just not that into you with' with my best girlfriend. What did that mean. Did that 'love' mean something or nothing at all...? haha

If you have seen that movie, I was acting like Gigi. Very Happy
