Tonights appointments
First is my neurologist. My plans for him are:
*to discuss why I am not taking this Gabitril he wants me to take and see if he has any other ideas
*To tell him I made an appt. with someone else to get a second opinion (he suggested it)
*To explain to him how the frequency and severity of my migraines has sky-rocketed and talk about new/alarming symptoms
*To discuss disability. (Although I can not bring myself to give up this down-hill battle yet, I feel like my job is always at jeapord b/c of my migraines and need to know his feelings on it).
Then to the OBGYN:
*Discuss weather we try a second time to do the ablation or if we just do the hysterectomy.
*Ask if an MRI would rule out/confirm adenomyosis and maybe that could be the deciding factor.
*Tell him that I'm just about done with the hot-flashes and moodiness that these hprmones he has me on are giving
So that's an eventful evening!!
Wish me Luck!

Re: Tonights appointments
Did you make a new neuro appointment with Dr. W?
He can do a fibro evaluation. He did one on Anna, and she has it. No surprise there. Although it is the least of her problems...
Hope all goes well with your appointments!

Re: Tonights appointments
Good luck, Jess!
Can they definitively diagnose adenomyosis? I was told AFTER my hysterectomy that that's what I had from the anaylsis of the uterus after it was out. But, that was almost 20 years ago. Hopefully they've come up with better ways of figuring it out.
There are things I regret about about the hysterectomy, like I wish my ovaries could've been saved (had two separate oophectomies to remove them, both emergency surgeries). KNowing I couldn't change my mind and have more kids, the amount of scar tissue I have, the lack of muscle control from so many abdominal surgeries, BUT
Not going through so much pain every month is SUCH a blessing. Every month was worse as the uterus became more spongy.
So, weigh the good with the bad...I don't think I've ever regretted not having another period

Re: Tonights appointments
Thanks Girls
So here's how they went:
Neuro: Same 'ol Same 'ol He understood my concern over the Gabitril warning (we googled it together to see the warnings and he was surprised by it-NOTE TO ALL...do your own med research...especially for off-label use!!!) HE is still stumped but not giving up on me. He noticed some tremors while doing a physical eval...we're just watching those for now. His only New thought was lets start doublin up on preventatives that have worked a little in the past (i.e., currently wants me to lower dose of Cymbalta but add Lyrica, as that had worked before.) He gave me samples...I guess I might try it..Not sure yet tho. This lab rat is getting a bit tired of the game
He told me why I lost vision in one eye last Migraine (The whole left hemisphere/right visual field thingy and constriction of vessels in that area).
Cheryl: I see Dr. W on MArch 3rd. I told my neuro I found someone to give a second opinion and he asked who. When I told him he was very familiar and said "Yeah, wow, I think he'd be a GREAT person to have on board." YAY ANd Thanks again for all your shared info.
OBGYN: I am opting for the 2nd shot at the ablation (This time under General!!!) I think that the meds I use for migraine have given me too high of a threshold for pain meds and thats why I felt so much and my body reacted all nutso!! Plus he told me that the hysterectomy would have to be an abdominal surgery (not laparoscopic) b/c of the location of the incision/ scar from my C-section. That would mean 3 days in the hospital and 2 weeks bed rest after. Can't afford that!!! SO wish me luck on try #2.
Char: I asked about that and it could potentially be detected via MRI but not with great reliability. He said the Ablation may or may not help even it is Adenomyosis, and will for sure help if it is other causes. He said there is a 90% chance I will have very very light periods with minimal if any cramping and a 40% chance that I will have NO periods and NO cramping. So I'll give it another shot.
I really hope they can do it soon, as these hormones he has me on so I don't bleed to death...lol (tiny exxageration)....are giving me hot flashes and I hate it!!!
Thanks again, LAdies for taking the time to read about my appts and chime on. You guys are awesome. It's so nice to be able to come here to "bore" people with our medical schtuff rather than try to talk to family or friends or co-workers who although try as they may to be understanding....always leave you feeling like some sort of freak!!!
Hope you all have a great day. I woke at 3 am with night sweats and a Migraine and couldn't fall back to sleep. Took a boat load of meds, as missing work is not an option today, and messing around on the computer until it's "GO" time. =)
TTFN!!

Yoo hoo for your upcoming appointment with Dr. W. I know several of his patients, but not all post here.

Things like this are only boring for people that are not interested. If we were not we would not read your posts!
You will really like dr Wilken. Good luck on that appointment. Reserve a LOT of time for it. He defilitely does not try to shove you out the door and is very thorough.
Keep your chin up Girlie! You are doing everything that you can!
Have you filed FMLA at work? Just a question. It really could help protect your position. You get 12 weeks off all at once or sparadicly (sp). I just did it myself.

Re: Tonights appointments
I have a good feeling about your next ablation (sp?). I hope it goes well, keep us posted!
Also, its really good you followed your instincts on that med that you didn't want to take. Doubling up on previous preventatives that worked sounds like a good plan. Hope the samples work. I love samples! They're FREE!

Re: Tonights appointments
I'm taking Crystal to Dr W the day after your appointment. You are welcome. Life has been crazy. I am sorry it took so long to respond. Good luck! It is right around the corner.
Just FYI for locating the office...if you head West at the stoplight immediately south of 90 on Roselle (Hillcrest maybe??) the office park is two driveways down on the right. His office is in the back right corner of the park.
I had a little trouble finding it with my navigation system with the Roselle Rd address and not actually being on Roselle..go figure!
