trick to try
I haven't seen this anywhere else on this board so I thought I'd share a little trick that helps me, at least temporarily. I have 2 corn bags (made them myself with feed corn from the stock shop). I keep one in the freezer & 1 for heating. When it's too early to take anymore of my pain meds I will take the heated one & lay down with it at the small of my back. Then I put the one from the freezer on my forehead. My m's are always over the right eye so this works for me. The theory is that the cold constricts the blood vessels & the warmth draws the blood away. As I said, it is only a temporary fix but it will buy you some time.

Thank you for mentioning this. I also find that getting warmth on my neck/back is very beneficial for reducing my h/a.
I use a hot water bottle like a neck cushion and rest my head against it.
I also have an electric heat pad (the size of a small flat cushion) which I can use when sitting in a high back chair, or on top of my pillow if I am in bed. I can take it anywhere with me, even when I travel.

trick to try.
Thanks for posting this. I was wondering about hot and cold when watching a programme the other night that looked into treating muscle pain after exercise. They had groups of people do an obstacle course run then divided them up into three groups. group one just sat and rested, group two sat in a hot tub with warm water and group three sat in a tub of cold water. the people in water felt some immediate relief but the people without just felt pain, but in the long term the people without pain increased, warm water was reduced, but cold water reduced the pain further. The conclusion was that cold had better results than warm.
As i have regularly reached for a little child's hot water-bottle to put round my neck I was considering trying cold instead.

A cold pack on the head is better. It helps constrict the blood vessels. Hot packs on the back or feet are supposed to be good to draw the blood away.

I've used heat for my neck to stop the muscles spasming, but I prefer cold on my forehead/crown of my skull
